Choir Spring Trip 2025
We are very excited to be heading back to San Antonio and the Flying L Dude Ranch this Spring! The goal is to get 100 total travelers, including parent chaperones, to fill 2 charter buses which may actually lower the overall cost of the trip. Our trip contract and deposit link is below for those who are planning on traveling with us. This is an incredible trip that our students loved in 2023, and you can find some photos and videos from that trip below.
I you have not turned in your contract and deposit, you may turn your forms in on Monday. If you are wishing to go as a chaperone but cannot make the first deposit, please let us know via email!
Parent chaperones can make their payments using the same link as student payments, but please indicate who the payment is for under "recipient name".
If your student is allowed to travel with us, please print, read, sign and return the hard copy to Choir. No digital forms of the contract can be allowed this year. We will have copies available for your student to bring home. Only the signed last page of the contract is needed.
Please be aware that students must be academically and attendance eligible to travel on the spring trip.
All initial deposits must be made by September 15th, along with the trip contract. There will be links provided each month for the following payments. All schoolcashonline payments will have an additional service charge that does not count toward the payment. For example, the initial deposit is $100, but has a $5 service charge. Also be aware that the initial deposit is non-refundable and monies paid for the rest of the trip cannot be refunded after the December 15th payment, unless you are able to sell your trip for full price.
More information and the tentative itinerary can be found in the trip contract. We always need parents to go, too!!!
All-State District Mock Auditions
DISTRICT MOCK AUDITIONS ARE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 at 3:00pm. We are hoping to be done by 5:00pm with the auditions.
Students will meet in the Cafeteria after school and receive cuts and audition order. After you sing your mock audition, you are free to leave. Comment sheets will be distributed the following day in class.
Please see the singing order below:
All-State District Auditions
The District Audition is Saturday, September 21st at Oak Ridge HS (27330 Oak Ridge School Rd. Conroe, TX 77385). All students auditioning must be at TMHS at 6:15am and will meet in the choir room for a quick warm up together. Students will ride the bus or may drive their cars, following behind the bus.
Registration closes at 8:30am.
Please note that Over the Rainbow will not be auditioned.
CHAPERONES
If you are a parent interested in chaperoning for this audition, please complete the sign up genius below. We would like at least two parents with our students in the cafeteria throughout the audition. All chaperones must also complete the TISD volunteer application, which is also linked below.
Chaperones may meet us at TMHS and follow the bus, or are welcome to drive directly to ORHS after dropping their student off at TMHS. If the chaperone arrives at ORHS before the directors they may go inside and find some tables in the cafeteria to claim for TMHS.
CONCESSIONS FOR STUDENTS
PLEASE support the ORHS Choir by purchasing items from their concession stand! Here's a list of items they will sell:
Breakfast Tacos
Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza
Beverages (Bottled Water, Dr. Pepper, Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite)
Chips and Assorted Snacks
Candy
ORHS Choir Boosters will have a station for students to purchase tickets ($1=1 Ticket), students will then use tickets to purchase food items. If students purchase 10 tickets ($10), they will receive an additional 2 tickets.
PARKING
When you arrive, all vehicles (including buses) should enter the rear parking lot (next to the football stadium) and enter the the building through the red double doors labeled #48 & 49. Buses will drop off next to the building near these doors and park near the baseball field.
ARRIVAL
Upon arrival, students will go to their assigned rooms to register, warm up, and be taken through cuts. Oak Ridge HS will have ample signage directing singers to their appropriate rooms.
Sopranos - Cafeteria
Altos - Blue Gym
Tenors - Band Hall
Basses - Auditorium
Chaperones must wait in either the Cafeteria or Gym (they are right next to one another).
REGISTRATION
Once in their registration room, students in voice parts with multiple zones (sopranos, altos and baritones) should find the posted list to determine the zone in which they will be auditioning. Once they know their zone, they will go to the registration table to sign for their badge.
All students should be prepared to stay in their assigned registration/warm-up areas for a while with their water and music, etc. The first 20 singers will go directly to their audition rooms from here. Students will also need to follow directions regarding line up and appropriate times to go to the restroom.
Registration opens at 7:30 am and closes at 8:30. Students arriving after 8:30 am will not be permitted to audition.
AUDITION PATH
After the first 20 have left the registration room to audition, all remaining singers will be dismissed to the cafeteria/gyms when instructed. Any personal items (books, water bottles, etc) will have to travel with them when they leave their warm-up room. After their audition, students will be directed to the Cafeteria, where they will be allowed to call their parent (FROM THE CELL PHONE TABLE) to pick them up. Students who are waiting until the end of the contest for results will remain in the cafeteria/gyms.
WARM UP
During the "warm up" the students will go through the cuts 2 times per section (e.g., Alto 1 2x, Alto 2 2x). The cuts will not be rehearsed again. Students may vocalize after that point but may not practice the audition music. Please let your students know that they can only sing the cut material for their section. In other words, a soprano 1 cannot sing through the cuts again with the soprano 2s. This is a violation of the audition process and will be enforced.
LINE UP
In their warm up rooms, students will be lined up in groups of 10. Once the first 10 are sent to the audition rooms, the next 10 will be called to lineup. Note: in the cafeteria there will be designated cafeteria tables for the groups of 10 to sit in line while they wait to be sent.
NOTE ABOUT RESTROOMS
Students should take care of any personal needs prior to going to registration. If they are in the first group of 30 (or have requested an EARLY time), there won’t be an opportunity to use the restroom until after their audition. If students ask to go to the restroom before 9am, the answer will be NO. Please share this information with your students.
NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES
There are no electronic devices allowed at the audition. This includes smart watches.
There are no musical instruments allowed at the audition.
Please be sure that your chaperones and parents know that they can use
electronic devices but may not allow students to use them. Remind them to use a safe distance when operating a device in proximity of students.
Students WILL be allowed to call for parent pick-up at the cell phone table, monitored by the adult at the table.
We will take students cell phones to give to chaperones for the duration of their audition. Once the student is done auditioning they may go to our chaperones to get their phone, then head to the cell phone table to call their ride to be picked up.
