A Message from the Director...
Dear Career Tech Students and Families,
I would like to share my thoughts on the positive impact of competition in our journey through career technical education. Although competition may seem intimidating, it presents an incredible opportunity for growth and learning here at Ford Tech.
Competing challenges us to go beyond our limits, think creatively, and continuously enhance our skills. It teaches us lessons in resilience, perseverance, and the significance of striving for excellence.
For students, participating in competitions is a chance to exhibit their talents, gain recognition, and build confidence in real-world settings. Parents, your support during these experiences is invaluable, encouraging a mindset of determination and a passion for success.
Let's welcome competition as a pathway to personal and professional development, working together to attain our goals and create a brighter future.
Kind regards,
Stephanie Bigelow M.A., L.P.C.
P.S. See below for the latest and greatest accomplishments this week at William D. Ford!
SkillsUSA Michigan Competition-Firefighting and EMT
William D. Ford had 14 EMT & Firefighting students who participated in the Michigan Skills USA competition last weekend. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Our EMT students, Allison Phillips and Gavin Kamm, received a bronze medal for 3rd in the state as a team.
Two students received medals in the firefighter competition. Jessica Cruz received the third-place bronze medal. Aiden Parker, for the second year in a row, came in first for the gold. Last year, Aiden placed fifth in the National Competition. This year, his first-place win means that he will be competing against 49 other firefighter students from each state in the country in Atlanta, GA in June. We are very hopeful for Aiden at the National Skills USA Competition and grateful to the students and instructors who participated in the state competition. We look forward to next year's competition.
***As an important side note, Ford's Firefighting students took 4 places out of the top 5 in the state, and 7 of the top 10. It's impressive to see the strength and success of the program. Kudos to both Mr. Bunse and Mr. Thompson.***
