We Had a Dentist Visit! 🦷
On Thursday, 2/22, Washington School had a special visit from a real dentist! Drs. Randazzo came to school to teach us all about taking care of our teeth. Dr. Randazzo's practice is on Market St. in Saddle Brook. He and his wife (a pediatrician) taught us how to properly brush our teeth by demonstrating on his "pet dinosaur" and all about good nutrition. Dr. Randazzo also brought us goody bags filled with the proper tools to help keep our teeth healthy! Thank you Drs. Randazzo!

Ms. Shayna's Speech Room! 🗣️
This month in speech we read “Little Blue Truck's Valentines Day"! The interactive pieces kept our minds engaged and our hands busy while reading the story. The students were able to "drive" around the blue truck and drop off valentine's day cards to each animal along the way. Interactive books can target all of our various speech and language goals. We also loved finding all of the Valentines related pictures inside a sensory bin!
Ms. Katie's Busy Classroom! 🐝
This month Ms. Katie's class has been busy learning about clothing, having a fashion show, learning about different letters, shapes and having a visit from a dentist. They also really loved sharing Valentine's with their friends!

March 8th is International SEL day. "SEL Day is a global, grassroots campaign for social-emotional learning to support children's academic recovery, mental health, and well-being" (https://selday.org/). Washington School is proud to be a part of a district that puts an emphasis on this very large part of who we are as learners, and on what we need in order to get the most out of our academic days.
Although we infuse SEL into our daily routines here at school, our staff will be incorporating even more age-appropriate activities to develop our social-emotional intelligence.
