District Update

Welcome to the District Update!

Last Wednesday, November 20th , the Board of Education held a Special Meeting regarding the Elementary School Air Conditioning Capital Project. Accepting the bids, this capital enhancement to cool our elementary classrooms will now begin in earnest.

This project will be worked on in two Phases. Phase 1 will begin in December and is projected to be completed in 2027. Phase 1 impacted schools are Country Parkway, Heim, and Maple West. Phase 2 impacted schools are Dodge, Forest, and Maple East. Phase 2 schools can anticipate work on the capital project starting in 2026 with an estimated completion in 2028. The project timeline, along with impacted schools, is available on the District and school websites.

For Phase 1 schools, please keep an eye out for additional communication.

Last week, we shared information on this year’s Speaker Series, which will focus on Instruction. The four areas we are focusing on are Arts, Literacy, STEAM, and Math and Computer Sciences. All of these sessions will take place on a Zoom Webinar from 6-7 p.m. They will also be recorded and available to re-watch on YouTube and the District website. The first Speaker Series will take place tomorrow, Tuesday the 26th , and focus on the Arts with Jaime Pitnell, the District’s Director of Art.

Williamsville North’s drama club did an outstanding job presenting “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” It was fun, creative, and a great show for all!

As a reminder, it is a short week before the Thanksgiving Recess. There is no school on Thursday or

Friday this week and I truly hope you all are able to relax and enjoy time with family and friends.

When we return from the break, there are just 15 days before the winter recess, with many important dates and activities on the calendar – including the PTSA Holiday Craft Show and our next Board of Education Meeting.

The "Speaker Series" informational events are designed to provide stakeholders with insight into the work that takes place in our schools. This year's Speaker Series will focus on instruction.

All of the Speaker Series events will be held virtually from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. via a Zoom webinar. They will feature presenters and also a question and answer segment. The Speaker Series will be recorded and available to view on the District's YouTube channel after each virtual session.

The Williamsville Central School District is currently studying research and analysis regarding School Start Times. Information and research is available on the District and school webpages.

The District’s application to offer the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Seal of Biliteracy program at each of our high schools was approved for the 2024-2025 school year.

The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages, in addition to English.
