FROM THE NURSE
We continue to see a variety of illnesses throughout the grade levels- Strep throat, Covid and some gastrointestinal issues.
We need your help with these preventative strategies as we are seeing a trend across the country and in Maine- Norovirus as well as Influenza A are now circulating.
#1 Hand washing- especially before eating and after using the bathroom.
#2 Practice good respiratory etiquette - cover your cough in your sleeve, use tissues to blow your nose and then wash your hands.
#3 Eating a variety of food- including fruits and vegetables
#4 8-10 year olds need 9-12 hours of sleep at night. Here are some tips.
#5 Influenza vaccine and Covid vaccines are still available
#6 Stay home if fever 100.4 F or higher, vomiting or diarrhea.- Remain at home until these symptoms have resolved for 24 hours without medication and symptoms overall are improving.
On a brighter note:
Let's Go! Move More Challenge 2025! We want to help families learn more about the importance of moving 1 hour or more every day. Moving more positively impacts your mind and body and is important for children to learn healthy, lifelong habits. This includes a chance to win a ticket to a Sea Dogs game!
Track time outside with these great printable trackers.
