PTO - Is there a skeleton in your closet?
Have any old Halloween costumes collecting cobwebs around the house?
The Make a Difference Committee is collecting gently used (or new!) costumes for the students at Winton Hills Academy-our sister school.
If you have anything to donate please leave in the box marked “Make a Difference” located under the stairs between 10/1 and 10/19.
Any questions please contact Carly Lawless carly.lawless1@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance for your generosity!
**Winton Hills Academy has also expressed a need for uniform pants in sizes 3t-6 and 16-20**
If you have any khaki or navy pants that you no longer need or are able to purchase a new pair they would greatly appreciate it. You can leave the uniform pants in the same box, as the costumes, under the stairs. Thanks again for helping out!

NEWS FROM YOUR LIBRARY
Please consider helping our library run smoothly.
For more information, email Jennifer Price (our library volunteer
coordinator) at montgomerymediacenter@yahoo.com
To Parents and Guardians
Vision and hearing screenings will be administered on October 17, 19 and 22 to students in kindergarten, first, and third grade as required by state law. Vision screening will consist of distance visual acuity, binocular vision, and color vision for kindergarten and first grade. Third grade vision screening will consist of distance visual acuity. The hearing screening will consist of an audiometry for kindergarten, first and third grade.
If your child does not pass the vision or hearing screening, the school nurse will send a letter to share the results and make a recommendation for further evaluation by an eye care specialist or audiologist.
A vision and hearing screening only provides a snapshot of how your child performs on the day the screening was administered and is not a substitute for a complete vision and hearing evaluation by an eye specialist or audiologist.
If you have any questions about the school vision and hearing screening program, please call Susan Linton, Montgomery Elementary School Nurse at 686-1733 or email
Thank you.

WARNING ALERT / WIRELESS EMERGENCY / EMERGENCY ALERT TEST on October 3
National Integrated Public Alert and Warning System / Wireless Emergency Alert (IPAWS/WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS) Communications Test to 10/3/18 at 2:18 PM – There will be a test of both WEA and EAS systems on 10/3/18 at 2:18 PM.
The WEA service utilizes cellular phones to allow mass broadcast during an emergency event using cellular towers, such as a Tornado Warning or Amber Alert. Per FEMA’s website, the message will have a header reading “Presidential Alert” and then the body of the text will read “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
The EAS will also conduct a test, the nature of which you may be more familiar with. Its message will include a reference to the WEA test stating “THIS IS A TEST of the National Emergency Alert System. This system was developed by broadcast and cable operators in voluntary cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Communications Commission, and local authorities to keep you informed in the event of an emergency. If this had been an actual emergency an official message would have followed the tone alert you heard at the start of this message. A similar wireless emergency alert test message has been sent to all cell phones nationwide. Some cell phones will receive the message; others will not. No action is required.”
This is just informational since the test will occur during school hours you may want to let staff know this will happen, and be prepared for students and staff to receive this test alert messaging via cellular phones during this time.
