A few words from Mr. Jelks...
Dear LIS Families,
As we approach Mother's Day weekend, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to all the incredible mothers and mother figures in our community. Your love, dedication, and support are the cornerstones of our students' lives, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do.
In addition to celebrating this special occasion, I am excited to announce our upcoming Spring Fine Arts Performance. It promises to be a showcase of talent and creativity, highlighting the hard work and dedication of our students in the arts. We look forward to coming together as a community to enjoy and applaud their achievements.
Once again, Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there. May your weekend be filled with happiness, joy, and cherished moments with your loved ones.

Ultimate Frisbee
Big thanks to Mr. Mujica for his outstanding coaching of our Ultimate Frisbee team! 🙌 Our students had a blast playing a friendly match against Aspengrove. Your dedication and guidance truly make a difference on and off the field.
NLPS Trades
In a recent Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) workshop, students in grades 5 to 7 crafted their own tabletop games. Guided by instructors and carpenters in training, our students explored the use of various tools such as drills and clamps. Please take a few minutes over the weekend to challenge the students in a friendly match.

Attendance
We ask parents/guardians to call the school before 9:00 am at (250) 245-3351 or email Info.LI@sd68.bc.ca to notify the school of your child’s absence. Please follow up with a note to your child’s teacher when your child returns to school so the teacher can address any missed work, homework issues, etc. Also a reminder that if students need to leave early, they should be signed out in the main office.
School Closure
The following is a reminder about the NLPS school closure procedure for students.
If schools are closed due to snow, or any other weather-related problems, announcements will be made on local radio stations (WOLF 106.9 FM, WAVE 102.3 FM, and 91.7 COAST FM) by 7 a.m., or earlier, on the day of the closure. Please do not call the radio station – tune in and listen for the announcements, which will be made on a regular basis.
In addition, the district will post the information on the district’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and mobile app. Families may also receive a message through the School Messenger notification system via phone, email, or text. Please keep in mind, however, that there may be situations where this is not always possible, for example, power outages or technical problems. The most reliable method is to listen to the local radio stations.
