STATE TESTING IS HERE!
Across the state, 6th-8th graders will be taking the English Language Arts and Mathematics Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA). Students will be taking the tests over several days in their subject area classes. This means if your student is taking the Math SBA and has 3rd period Math, they will test in their 3rd period class with their usual teacher. The Math SBA for all grades will be administered from May 21st-23rd.
A few things you can do to support your student’s success from home:
- Ensure your student arrives at school on time.
- Avoid scheduling appointments during days/times your student will be testing.
- Have your student eat a healthy breakfast at home or school.
- If your child has headphones they can bring, remind them to pack them.
- Ensure your child gets a good night of sleep.
- Have your student plug their computer in the night before to make sure it’s fully charged.
- Encourage them to do their best!
If you want more information regarding opting out of state testing, please contact Mr. Coram via email at CoramSC@mukilteo.wednet.edu.
SHREK THE MUSICAL JR.
Harbour Pointe Middle School is proud to present Shrek The Musical Jr at the Kamiak PAC on May 23, 24, and 25th at 7pm with a community service performance May 25th at 2pm. No tickets are required for the 2pm show but donations to HP Drama Boosters are welcomed.
Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. Parental disclaimer: An alternative word for donkey will be used once in the show.
Purchase your tickets here:
Sign into or create your account (directions included on website) . Once signed in go to Items At All Schools>Middle School>Harbour Pointe>Shrek Jr Tickets. You can also use the search bar and type Shrek Tickets. Tickets purchased online will be available at Will Call on the evening of the show. Early Pick-Up Procedure
Regular attendance is crucial for students' academic success. We encourage families not to schedule appointments during school hours, although we understand that it may be unavoidable at times. If you need to pick up your student early from school, we require some time to retrieve them from their class. Kindly notify us at least ONE DAY PRIOR by calling (425)366-5105, or emailing HPAttendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu with:
- Your student's name
- Date & time of student's pick up
- Reason for leaving school early
Provided with sufficient advance notice for pick-up, we will have your student waiting for you at the main office at the specified time, saving you from waiting.
PRE-ARRANGED ABSENCES
We would like to remind you that for vacation/travel absences, a Pre-Arranged Absence Form must be filled out and returned to Student Services at least one week prior to travel. If you know that your student will be absent, please ask them to get a form from Mrs. James in Student Services or print it out at the link below. Your student will need to bring the form to each of their classes for teacher signatures, then collect a parent's signature before returning it to Student Services.
MORNING DROP-OFF PROCEDURE
Unless you have an arrangement with the school, please DO NOT drop-off students in the main parking lot during the bus turn-around from 7:35 AM to 8:30 AM.
For the safety of our students, the main parking lot is reserved for school bus drop-off only at that time. All student drop-offs must take place in the back parking lot. We appreciate your support in ensuring the safety of our students!
