GENERAL FOUR YEAR COLLEGE INFORMATION
Do I Need a School Report/Letter of Recommendation (SR/LOR) Form? Depends
Deadline to Turn in SR/LOR Form is next Friday - Sept 20th for college deadlines BEFORE Dec 15th that require letters of recommendation.
Some Guidelines to Help:
If it is a Common App College exclusive school, YES
If it is a California Public College (CSU/UC), NO
If it is a Coalition College that needs a school report (SR) and LORs, YES
Univ of Washington does not require SR or LOR
Univ of Texas does not require SR but LOR are optional
If it is a Private College with its own application that needs a school report (SR) AND letters of recommendation (LOR), YES
Out of State Public Colleges, VARIES (Read Below)
Sometimes the school asks for LORs that do not go through Naviance (teachers will be sent a link) if this is the case, NO
The tricky ones are public colleges that have their own online application and are on the Common App AND do not require a school report (LORs are optional). If these are the only schools you would list on your SR/LOR Form, then it is less work to not use the Common App. Notables: Univ of Oregon, Oregon State, Univ of AZ, and AZ State.
If after reading the requirements on the college’s website and looking at the information on Naviance (submission status), you still need help deciding if you need to use this form, please contact your counselor (week of 9/16-20) or come in to the College and Career Center.
Seniors, it is your responsibility to do the research and find out the APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS for each college you're thinking of applying to this fall.
Official Transcripts Will Be Ready September 13th
We will go over the process on how to request official transcripts at the Senior Grade Level 4yr College/IB Meeting on August 28th
Summer work needs to be added and counselors need to make sure they are correct before we upload them to send to colleges!
You can download your unofficial transcript off of Infinite Campus

All of the CSU are not the same and sometimes they have different names for the same subject area. Figure out HERE what degree you are applying for each school on the CSUapply website.
Impacted Majors
When you figure out what major you will be applying to, see if it is IMPACTED. If impacted, there will be a multiple measure selection process, again, different for each campus.

UC INFORMATION
Comprehensive Review at the UCs (From the UC Freshmen Selection Document)
Most UC campuses have more qualified applicants than they have room to accommodate, so they apply standards that are more demanding than the minimum requirements.
Using a process called comprehensive review, admissions staff look beyond grades to assess applicants’ academic achievements in light of the opportunities available to them and the capacity each student demonstrates to contribute to the intellectual life of the campus.
To guide the campuses in their comprehensive review of applicants, UC faculty developed the factors listed in the document below. All campuses place the highest importance on academic achievement in assessing applications. However, the review process and specific weight (if any) given to each factor can differ from campus to campus and year to year. Each campus evaluates each application individually and independently from every other campus to which the student has applied.
Review this document to check out what universities admit by major, factors considered in comprehensive review, freshman admissions profiles and specific policies for each campus.
Quick Reference Guide to UC Admissions Selection Process 2024
Launching UC Application with CaliforniaColleges.edu
This year students will be able to launch their UC application from californiacolleges.edu and have their courses/grades transfer over. Come to flex to get help with this process.
SSID # (State ID)
When the UC Application asks for SSID# they are asking for your State ID from the top left of your transcript
Evaluation for California Residency
The UC Application will ask multiple questions about whether you attended and will graduate from a California high school. Additionally, you will be asked “Do you want to be evaluated for California residency for tuition purposes?” ANSWER YES TO THIS QUESTION IF YOU DON’T WANT TO PAY OUT OF STATE TUITION.
Help on the UC Website
From UC: The UC application for fall 2025 opened. UC encourages students to spend ample time on their application, developing each section to reflect the accomplishments, challenges, opportunities and talents of each student within their own family, school and community context.
The UC application provides built-in help and support throughout each section of the application. Applicants can view answers to their commonly asked questions on each page of the application by clicking ‘Help’ on the top navigation bar or by clicking on the blue ‘i’ icons seen throughout the application. Students needing further assistance can contact the UC Application Center via phone or email. The center is available Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. (Pacific Time).

Join the SUHSD Sustainability Committee
Are you interested in helping the environment? Do you want to see more sustainable practices at school and make greater changes outside of school clubs? If so, the SUHSD Sustainability Committee is the place for you!
We’re a student-led committee formed in 2021 when students declared a climate emergency to the school board. Since then, we’ve garnered support from teachers and administrators across the district and have successfully implemented more sustainable practices at schools.
One such project was the environmental literacy survey that students took a few years ago, which showed that an overwhelming majority of you all wanted to see more use of environmental literacy in their curriculums. Joining the SSC is one of the best ways to not only implement that change but also leave a lasting impact on your community!
To join our Google Group and stay updated, click this link. This year’s meetings will be scheduled according to this link. Our first meeting will be on September 10th, 6:15 - 7 PM via Zoom. Hope to see you there :)
