Save My Family Event

On February 24th, we had a successful community Digital Media presentation that about 125 family and community members attended. We'd like to give a special thanks to Kelli Rich, a nurse practitioner, Agent Hart, a former FBI agent, and Officer Gomez, a well-known social media expert and SRO for presenting some very powerful information regarding digital media, mental health development and well-being. We got permission from the speakers to post a live stream of the event on the Parma School District #137 Facebook page, and that post can be accessed and shared anytime, if you missed the event. We would also like to thank Idaho State Police, Idaho Department of Education, M & W Market-Parma, Parma Community Schools, Rebecca Summers and the high school Leo's Club who donated time and funds toward this great event. Thank you also to those that came to the presentation. The presenters were impressed with our turnout and gave the Parma community a great shout out.

Community Schools Visit

We were honored to have a group tour our district and Community Schools program. Those visiting included United Way, United Way Board Members, Parma Mayor, a staff member from Senator Risch's office, and a staff member from Representative Fulcher's office.

They were very impressed with the work that is happening in Parma.

PowerSchool Cybersecurity Incident

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, PowerSchool informed our leadership team that they experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to certain PowerSchool SIS customer data. Unfortunately, they have confirmed that the information belongs to some Parma School District families and educators.

PowerSchool is offering two years of complimentary identity protection services for all current and former students and educators whose information was determined to be involved. They are also offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring services for all adult students and educators whose information was determined to be involved.

Please visit our website for information. We will add the most current information as it is received from Powerschool

Snow School at Bogus Basin

Snow school with 3rd Grade was another successful adventure. Students learned about the water cycle, snow pack, and more by snow shoeing in small groups with guides from Bogus Basin. They dug snow holes until reaching dirt where they measured the depth , the deepest hole being over 70” and all more than 45”. They measured the temperature of the snow near the bottom and top of the holes they dug and took a snow sample to predict the amount of water in the snow. While all of that was a fun learning experience in math and science, the best parts of the day were going into the igloos and ending their time with the classic belly slide. Lots of PE time going uphill in snow shoes and shoveling those holes which made for a complete outside school day.
