We have another awesome week ahead as we have holiday activities happening throughout the building and end-of-semester lessons/units taking place. Our staff members have been decorating the hallways and classroom doors to make our school look like a Winter Wonderland!

Our staff will be celebrating with themed spirit and treat days throughout December! We would love for students to join us on these days:

Please be sure to purchase your tickets for PTO Breakfast with Santa! This is a fun family event with awesome pancakes and a visit with Santa. Purchase your tickets as soon as possible so our PTO volunteers can plan accordingly. We hope to see you on Saturday!

The Grinch will be visiting Pevely on December 13th! He will be making rounds and stopping by classrooms for a quick visit throughout the day. Be sure to wear your "Grinchiest" attire on Friday so he feels right at home! Many classrooms also have Grinch activities planned for the day. Special thank you to Mr. Harold Benne, Alice's dad, who has a special connection with Mr. Grinch and always makes sure he stops at Pevely!

Report Card Grades will be viewable on January 6, 2025 in your student's Parent Portal account. You can always check your student's progress through Parent Portal as assignments and assessments are regularly updated by classroom teachers. Snow Days will be a little different this year, but please do not panic! We have had AMI days in the past, which stand for Alternative Methods of Instruction.

For Pevely Elementary students, please see the following information:

• Students are not required to be on a computer or device completing assignments all day. You are welcome to create a schedule that works for you and assignments will be brief. Teachers will most likely send home packets of work that review skills or give students additional practice on things they have already learned. Many teachers sent packets home during Parent Teacher Conferences.
• If you do not have internet at home, it's ok! Again, most teachers have already sent home paper/pencil packets to complete or are planning to do so.
• When possible, teachers may send work home the day before an anticipated winter weather event. If your family has internet and a device at home, all students have access to iReady, Lexia, and other bookmarked websites through their Dunklin email address.
• Teachers will be available by email and can schedule a Google Meet with students as requested during normal working hours. (8:05AM-3:50PM) Please understand that if you contact a teacher for assistance outside of this time, they will respond the following day.

Overall, the goal of an AMI day is to learn from home in a manageable way. It is not meant to cause stress or panic at home.

The Missouri legislature changed attendance requirements in Senate Bill 727. Our district must meet the required number of days (169) and hours (1044) to qualify for an incentive of one percent of our state aide, or $65,000. There is no forgiveness for snow days. If we need to call off school for inclement weather, students will learn from home.

Dunklin R-5 School District will first notify parents and students through Parent Portal if school is closed for inclement weather. Please make sure your phone/email are updated in Parent Portal. Announcements will also be made on the district and school Facebook pages and local news channels.

School attendance is so important! We know it is not always possible to schedule appointments on non-school days, but these are the dates that we are not in school for 24-25 if you can schedule on these dates. Thank you!
