This Week @ HJHS
TRAFFIC Pattern Change - Ongoing
Attention: Hillsboro Junior High Families
The City of Hillsboro has informed us the intersection of Walnut Street and Church Street will be closed until further notice.
This closure will impact student drop-off and pick-up. We are asking families to access Walnut Street from New Street for the next few weeks. Students will be dropped off further down Walnut Street and walk back to the school. Vehicles can continue driving down Walnut Street and exit at Abbott Street.
Please refer to the map below for a visual representation of the closed intersection and the new traffic pattern. The blue circle indicates the designated drop-off and pick-up location for students.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your help navigating this intersection closure.
Sincerely,
Hillsboro ISD

March 2025 Students of the Month
7th Grade Boy: Angel Chavez
● Angel is a respectful young man, a hard worker, and kind to others in our
building.
● He is a quiet young man so he can get overlooked in class. But he contributes to
conversation with insightful comments that he can back up with evidence. He
works hard to succeed, and he works with others so they can as well. He is very
diligent in his work which shows!
7th Grade Girl: Joyce McBride
● Joyce is such a great kid. She is a hard worker, respectful of her teachers and
so polite to other people in the building.
● This girl is AMAZING! She is on it, EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! She is willing to work
with anyone I pair her with, shares her ideas not only with her partner, but with
the class as well, and is always ready to give her reasoning and justify the
answer she chose. She shows her work on every problem given, and never takes
shortcuts. She is determined to get the answer right every single time, and I am
so excited to see her continue growing in her math ability!
8th Grade Boy: Eli Carmona -
● Eli has great leadership qualities and I believe he will do great things in his life
because of his leadership abilities.
● Eli works hard at everything he does, whether it be in the classrooms or on the
field of play, Eli is a natural born leader.
8th Grade Girl: Thanh Borden -
● T is extremely bright, kind to others and very respectful to all of her teachers.
● She is an excellent student. I can always count on maximum effort and
participation from her. I love to hear her contributions to discussions; her
thoughts are always well thought out, and she respectfully listens to and
encourages others.
