Maori Whakatauki & Matariki: Past, Present & Future
The Past
Haere atu rā e koro ki te paepae o Matariki, o Rehua. Haere atu rā.
Farewell old man, go to the threshold of Matariki, of Rehua. Farewell.
The Present
Ngā kai a Matariki, nāna i ao ake ki runga
The foods of Matariki, by her scooped up.
The Future
Matariki atua ka eke mai i te rangi e roa,
E whāngainga iho ki te mata o te tau e roa e.
Divine Matariki come forth from the far-off heaven,
Bestow the first fruits of the year upon us.

Macleans Primary School Community
Hello Everyone
The end of another term at Macleans Primary is upon us, and what a great term it has been! Many highlights over the past 10 weeks, including first and foremost the learning for all children at Macleans Primary. Thanks everyone for the continued strong home-school partnership that we aspire to making meaningful in all we do at Macleans Primary. The home-school partnership has shone through in many areas throughout the school, most note worthy when we have school events, whether they be sport, 'open classes' or learning conferences. As we move into the second half of the year, we look forward to sharing and involving parents in various sporting, cultural and academic activities (including learning conferences).

Un-Packing The Macleans Local Curriculum: Whakaute (Respect)
Whakaute or respect is important to Macleans Primary. It is a key word in the Macleans Values. We aim to foster, teach and support respect across all areas at Macleans Primary. Respect between children, teachers, parents and the community is so important in all we do, whether in the classroom, or on the playground. Respect in the classroom is about more than just the relationship between student and teacher. A culture of respect at Macleans Primary means that all students treat each other well. We want a classroom and school culture where the children feel safe, motivated to learn and, of course, respected.
