Dear Families,
It was inspiring to see many families last Friday for our Family University event. We are appreciative of our PTA Advocacy lead Sherry Xiong and the planning team - Carrie Lee, Eva Ju, Jing Huang, Laine Huang, Shiny Cheng, and Rebecca Wan - for their collaboration to make this evening relevant for our participants.
Busy times are still ahead with tonight's Talent Show, organized by Medina PTA. The school is brimming with excitement, and we can't wait to see how multi-talented our students are! Don't forget that next week is the Volunteer Appreciation breakfast on Wednesday 5/22. We look forward to celebrating our volunteers (YOU) from 7:45-8:30am in the school library.
Warmly,
Betty & Brenda

Art Installations
We invite you to view the Bellevue School District K-12 Art Show at Crossroads. The art installations will be there through May 28th. Right now you can see pictures of the glass fusing artwork by Medina's 4th and 5th graders! Thank you to Mary Bena, our amazing art teacher, for setting and displaying our students' work.
Save the Date: Kindergarten Camp
If you have an incoming kindergartner enrolling for 2024-2025 school year, please save the date August 27th for Kindergarten Camp! This is an opportunity for the Kindergarten teachers to get to know your child in an informal classroom setting to help us create balanced classes for the 2024-2025 school year.
Kindergarten Camp will be in lieu of the Medina Meet and Greet. Each K family will have an opportunity later during the first few days while grades 1-5 are in school (9/3-9/5) to meet with their child's Kindergarten teacher as part of family conferences.
Sign up for K camp using this link here. There are 2 session times - one at 9 and the other at 10:15. Sign up for 1 session.
Bellevue SchoolPool Travel Survey
The City of Bellevue is seeking travel data on how students travel to and from school. Please help by completing this short, five-question survey for each school-aged child. This annual survey helps the city’s Bellevue SchoolPool program evaluate strategies for alleviating drop-off and pickup congestion at schools.
If you have questions, please contact Kate Johnson, Bellevue SchoolPool Program Lead, at kmjohnson@bellevuewa.gov.
Class Placement Process
We thank you for providing input regarding your student in the Intent to Return survey. As we look toward 2024-2025, you may have many questions about class placement. Next year, enrollment is projected to increase, and we will continue to monitor our enrollment numbers closely from now and throughout the summer. With the goal to create balanced classrooms, our teachers work together to take into account several factors including the thoughtful insights you provide about your child's learning style, social skills, strengths, and any special learning considerations.
While we recognize the affinity you may have towards specific teachers, we kindly remind our families that we cannot honor requests for specific teachers. The class placement process is comprehensive and considers inputs from families, teachers, and other school staff. Changes may still occur over the summer as enrollment numbers shift which may cause an addition or reduction in classes or a blended grade class. We will communicate your child's placement late August. Exact details about this communication will be shared before we close off this school year. Thank you for your partnership and trust in this process.
