Vaccines Available By Appointment & Walk-in
COVID vaccines for anyone age 12+ every Wednesday and Friday
All Oregonians age 12 and older are now eligible to get a free COVID-19 vaccine. Getting vaccinated is a voluntary and vital opportunity to support the health of our families, schools and community.
4J is hosting Lane County Public Health to provide vaccine clinics at 4J schools, open to students, families, staff and other community members. Advance appointments are available, or community members can drop in to get their shot.
When: Every Wednesday, 4–6 p.m.Where: Churchill High School Cafeteria, 1850 Bailey Hill Road
When: Every Friday, 4–6 p.m.
Where: North Eugene High School Glass Lounge, 200 Silver Lane
Appointment or walk-in: While appointments are encouraged and will reduce wait times, walk-ins also are welcome at LCPH vaccine clinics.
Parent consent: Youth under age 15 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian or bring a signed consent form.
Update on Face Masks at School
Students and staff will continue wearing face masks during school hours for remaining days of the year • Masks are now optional in some circumstances like outdoor high school sports and graduation
Dear 4J families,
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) have released new guidance regarding face coverings for schools and school-related activities. The changes allow school districts to opt to loosen some requirements at sports activities, outdoor events, and for fully vaccinated adults when students are not present. ODE and OHA have been clear that individual school districts may continue to require masks universally at all times.
After careful consideration, Eugene School District 4J will be loosening some face covering requirements, under certain circumstances.
There is no change for students during the school day.
Students will continue wearing face masks during the school day, both indoors and outdoors, including during recess, PE, arrival and dismissal times.
With school ending in three weeks, each cohort of students has just a few more school days on-site. Staying the course with face masks during outdoor activities provides our students and staff with needed consistency and predictability, and the least amount of disruption to learn and adapt to new protocols in the limited time remaining.
Our district has also had few COVID-positive cases and virtually no school spread with face masks and other health and safety measures in place. We want to finish the school year strong and healthy.

ICYMI: Looking Ahead to Fall
School calendar approved • Planning for five days a week in-person
Looking ahead, the district is planning for a return to in-person learning in 2021–22. While the future public health situation and state rules for schools are uncertain, we intend to have students back at school on-site five days a week.
School likely will continue to look a little different, not a full return to the "normal" of the past. The district will continue to follow health and safety requirements established by the Oregon Health Authority and Department of Education, which may include protocols such as face masks and physical distancing of less than 6 feet.
The district will continue to offer online options for families who prefer all online learning. However, resources will need to be focused in our on-site school programs and there will not be an online program tied to individual schools like the Same School Online option that was offered during this exceptional year.
For families planning dates in advance, the 2021–22 school calendar is here. We look forward to welcoming our students back in the fall!
2021–22 Key Dates for Students:
• Transition Day for Selected Grades: Thursday, Sept. 9• First Day of Classes (All Grades): Friday, Sept. 10 (why Friday?)
• Winter Break: Dec. 20–31 + Monday, Jan. 3 (potential makeup day)
• Spring Break: March 21–25

Mindfulness App- Stop, Breathe, Think Kids
Mindfulness App. ~Stop, Breathe, Think Kids
Mindfulness skills are helpful in regulating our emotions and responding to stress. There are numerous additional benefits for our children and for adults, such as improved immune system, regulation of stress, improved sleep, better regulated attention and emotions, and much more.
We've been focused on teaching your children about the brain and mindfulness. To use the app, your child will need a parent to sign-in with an email and enter verification code to indicate consent for the child to use the app.
I like this mindfulness app because children can find their own strategy or activity based on their interest or self-identified need, or even better, the child identifies their current emotional state and the app generates a strategy connected to the emotion. This helps children make a connection between useful and appropriate strategies to use in response to certain emotions.
Watch this short video on how to use the app: Breathe Kids video
Check out this link to learn about the app: Stop, Breathe, Think Kids
While Stop, Breathe, Think Kids is made specific for 5-10 year-olds, MyLife also has mindfulness activities for adults. See this playlist for adult-focused activities: Playlist of Meditation & Mindfulness activities

Who should report child abuse or suspected child abuse?
Anyone can report child abuse or suspected child abuse. You need to report when: you have a reason to suspect, you have observed the abuse, and you know or have a reasonable cause to believe. You don’t have to prove it to make the call. Make the report right away. Agencies are available 24/7.
Whom do I report abuse to?
You can report it to local law enforcement, Department of Human Services - Child Protective Services, a teacher, or your school’s building administrator. Ideally, the person that suspects or has firsthand knowledge should make the call directly to Child Protective Services. Here are our local phone numbers:
