New Mascot
At our first School Spirit assembly the students and staff were given a chance to wish Hooty well on his retirement. Although there was some sadness... Everyone also was excited to meet our new mascot. The students will have a chance to vote on his name before the next spirt assembly!
A BIG THANK YOU to our HSA for their support!
AH Student Council
Our Council has been collecting Halloween candy since 11/1. On Wednesday 11/6 student council will go around to each homeroom and collect the candy bags and determine which class has the most! The winning class will get an extra 20 minutes of outside time. Tomorrow is the last day!!!
All candy collected will be sent to troops overseas.
Taste of Spain
The students and staff enjoyed a visit from this prestigious New Jersey company.
From Sevillanas, the famous lively dance from Seville to powerful Flamenco dance and music from the gypsy enclaves of Granada, this prestigious New Jersey company shared dance and music from Spain with live guitar accompaniment and colorful traditional costumes. Students also had the opportunity to learn elements of these dance forms through spirited interaction with the artists on stage, including rhythmic hand clapping, arm movements, foot stomping, castanet playing and jaleo, shouting out "olé!"
Makerspace
Our Makerspace school wide enrichment experience is in full swing with our 3rd grade students during this first semester. They are having a lot of fun working with Ms. Barrett and their classroom teachers. I know our 4th and 5th grade students are looking forward to their time in makerspace in the Winter and Spring.
A makerspace for enrichment is a creative, hands-on learning environment designed to encourage exploration, innovation, and problem-solving skills through various activities and tools.
Some benefits of a makerspace for enrichment include:
1. Fostering Creativity and Innovation
2. Encouraging Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
3. Building Practical Skills
4. Collaboration and Community
5. STEM and STEAM Learning
Our Makerspace model serves as a valuable enrichment tool for supplementing traditional education and empowering all of our students to become creators and innovators.
