Dear Lake Forest Community High School,
IT’S A FRI-YAY that ends in a wonderful Winter Assembly! What I love about our first Winter Assembly is that it features so many of our Scouts, from Sports to Activities–and even has some of our faculty and staff “busting a move” for our students. Yes, I just wrote “busting a move,” in our newsletter!
Today, I was a Principal-in-Residence with our amazing Students Services department. Since so much of the work they do is confidential, I found myself sitting in the suite and getting to talk to students and staff as they entered for various meetings and appointments. I engaged with faculty members who were trying to better understand the extraordinary needs of particular students–and just stopped by (during their non-existent “free” period) to engage in a problem-solving conversation with our clinicians and counselors. I loved seeing this collaboration–professionals who are dedicated to just figuring it out for students in need, whatever it takes–and I was (yet again) blown away by the professionalism and care that was shown. I wrote it a couple of weeks ago, and I will write it again–we are very fortunate, indeed.
I also may have, rather annoyingly, told students as they were leaving the suite to “Go get your learning on!” and “Make good choices!” I had a few smiles, but mostly some eye rolling.
It’s OK–what’s high school without a few eye-rolling moments!
Wishing you a restful weekend,
Erin
