WFBMS FAMILY NEWS
November 4, 2024
Greetings Middle School Families,
Last week certainly was a busy one, full of excitement and activity. I would like to thank everyone who came to participate in conferences. The chance to connect with families and share plans to ensure their child has a successful school year, given the relationship built and information gathered over the course of the first quarter, is invaluable and a critical part of the work in which we engage. On Friday, staff engaged in professional learning, with each department working on their goals for the year. I have to say that I was humbled by the focus and energy teachers brought to the work after two long days of conferences. On Saturday, our eighth graders returned from another successful trip to Washington D.C. where they spent three days learning about our nation’s history and engaging with unique learning experiences. Alongside seventh grade camp, this is a unique opportunity provided to our learners.
As we look to this week, Friday brings our Veteran’s Day Assembly, where we are provided an opportunity to honor those who dedicated their lives in service to our nation. I am excited to take a moment to pay my respects to community members who served in the armed forces. Additionally, I would like to invite any community members who served in the military to join us this Friday at 8:05. Learners will honor veterans with music and share important historical information related to our military and service men/women. Additionally, we have a guest speaker, former Naval Electrician Mate and current member of the Milwaukee Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ms. Aryn Gring. If you are able to attend, I look forward to seeing you in our gym.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Geoff Pontus
Principal
