Principal's Message
Kellogg Families,
I hope you had a magnificent Memorial Day weekend! Hopefully you had the opportunity to spend quality time with one another and honor all of those who have died at home and abroad while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The school year is officially winding down with many celebrations and events ahead.
It was a true joy for me to attend and see all our talented Band students perform at the Band Concert last week. Tonight, our Band students will be on display again as they perform at the Collective Oregon Eateries at 6:00 PM. We hope you can stop by for some good food and live entertainment.
On Thursday, our Choir students are also excited to show off their talents at the final Choir Concert of the year. We hope you can come at 6:30 PM on Thursday.
Finally, our students have been buzzing about the Spring Dance this Friday at 5:30 PM. The dance will be a great opportunity to celebrate the school year and to look forward to the summer. See below for more details about the dance.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Mr. Thai Nguyen
Principal
Kellogg Middle School

End of Year Dance
The end of the year dance is May 31, 2024 from 5:30-7:00pm. We are looking for about 20 volunteers to chaperone. Currently we have 7! SIGN UP HERE. We also want to take the time to publicly thank Dominic Paz and family for DJ'ing all of our dances this year. We cannot put together these events without the support of parents. THANK YOU!
End of Year Expecations
As we wind down the end of year, we can feel students excitement rise as they get ready to start summer. We need your help to remind students summer doesn't start until June 14th at 3:45pm!
Our expectations are the same, but here are few we want to review with students.
Please remind students to limit bathroom or nurse visits. We have some students who ask to use the restroom every period and/or visit the nurse daily.
Students need to be in class on time. We are seeing an increase in tardies. You can view your students tardies in studentvue.
Keep hands to self. This includes play fighting or "joking" around with friends. All student should keep hands to self at all times.
With the weather warming up, we are seeing an increase in students bringing squirt guns and other water toys. These items cause a disruption and are prohibited on campus. Please talk to your child and ensure your child is not bringing these items to school.
Remember to attend the school dance no more than 5+ referrals or a 2/3 referral. Continued infraction will result in the loss of privileges including end of year school events: 8th grade PSU visit, 8th grade Oaks Park, 6th grade kickball tournament, 7th grade end of year celebration, etc.
Please note we will not refund money for field trips if students loss their privilege to attend.
Library Books Overdue!
Dear Kellogg Students & Families!
As we near the end of the school year, we are reminding families to return library and textbook materials before students leave for the summer.
Please check your shelves, under the bed, behind the couch, everywhere! for books to return to the library. Contact me at jsmith4@pps.net if you have any questions. Help us keep our library and textbook materials available for all to use and enjoy.
Thank you,
Miss Jayne & Ms. Nowak
8th Grade Corner
As we get closer to the end of the school year we will have more updates on our 8th Grade events.
Special thank you to our three chaperones, Ms. Baker, Ms. Rapier and Ms. Glynn for chaperoning our PSU visit.
Oaks Park trip is right around the corner we still need to raise a little less than $1000.00. If you or your child still need to pay please click this link to the School Pay site to submit your payment.
When: Tuesday, June 4th 8th graders will take school buses from Kellogg to Oaks Park where they will enjoy a day of fun with their friends. More details to come as the date approaches.
Cost: $25 PTSA has secured the spot at Oaks Park, but we still need to raise $6000 to pay for the buses and ride bracelets for the kids. That comes out to $25 per student. Click this link to the School Pay site to submit your payment.

Departure
For the last three years, I've been grateful to work at Kellogg. Collaborating with an amazing team and getting to know you and your kids has been wonderful. My goal was to set up systems for us to build on and improve together. Now, as the school year wraps up, I am reflective of how much work our staff, partners, students and families have put into making Kellogg a special school. Thank you for making my time here memorable.
