Mrs. Pelfrey's class completed an activity where groups of 3 students had to work together to complete all of the steps of protein synthesis in order to build a protein like our cells do.
Spanish II classes learned about the holiday celebrated in many Hispanic countries called "Los días de Muertos." It comes on November 1st and 2nd and is an elaborate celebration of memorial to family members who have passed away. November 1st celebrates the children and the 2nd celebrates the adults. They celebrate by creating an "ofrenda" in their home that holds specific items associated with the holiday and items that were treasured by the deceased. Some examples would be toys that a child would have played with, pictures, tools that represented the occupation of the adult, favorite foods etc. They also have parades, picnics in the evening in the cemetery near the loved one's grave where they spend time singing, talking about their loved one, playing cards, and just hanging out with family and friends.
This holiday began with the influences of Aztec religion and has evolved over the years to include more Catholic emphasis and a time of remembrance.
