A Publication of St. Gabriel the Archangel School 5/22/2024
Dear Fabulous Families -
Congratulations to our 8th Graders who graduated from St. Gabriel last night! We wish them the best of luck and God's blessings as they move onto high school!
Friday is a Dress Down Day with a summer vacation theme. We have Mass at 11:15 - hopefully on the back parking lot like we have done before. Students can bring a towel to sit on. Please join us! Students will be dismissed when Mass is over to go home at noon. If it rains, we will be in the church.
Thank you for a fantastic year! Your support, ideas, enthusiasm for our school, prayers, and positivity are appreciated and are what allow us to continue to grow. As we look forward to next year, we will be embarking on our School Improvement Plan Process. This is part of our accreditation process that occurs every 6-7 years. The following areas are reviewed and new goals set through a defined process: Catholic Identity, Educational Issues, and Institutional Issues. You will hear more about this as we begin the next school year and you will have the opportunity to participate in the process and share ideas. If you want some fun summer reading material, we will be using Catholic Standards and Benchmarks to help guide some of the process and discussions. More will be shared in the fall.
- Donated Unwanted Uniforms - Please send in any unwanted uniforms to the main office. We will use these for our uniform swap this summer.
- Ordered your school supplies for next year? See information below!
- Placed your order for skirts/jumpers? Because schools have a unique plaid that is special to them, skirts and jumpers need to be ordered ahead of time. There are only a few factories that still make our plaid. It is hard to guarantee that these items will be readily available off the rack when August arrives. See information about Just Me Apparel below.
Have a safe and relaxing summer! I will send out a newsletter every so often this summer, but not every week.
NEW! Please note that the link for second semester lunch and recess duties are below:
Coming home today from the office in the yellow envelope:
- Spring NWEA/MAP Scores
Reminder: Submissions for the newsletter should be sent to Mrs. McEnery by noon on Monday. Graphics should be a jpg or png. In the subject line, please put "Newsletter".

Did You Miss the Uniform Fitting?
From: Just Me Apparel, Our Uniform Supplier
- For pricing or sizing questions, please visit the website at www.justmeapparel.com or call us at 636-391-3551. You can order on line or by phone throughout the school year and we will make weekly deliveries to your school!
This is the perfect time to get your orders in for next school year. This is important to insure skirts and jumpers fit appropriately. Skirts and jumpers should be at least finger-tip length. Many students are outgrowing their current uniform.
Protecting God's Children / Safe Environment Training
- Important - All volunteers need to successfully complete the mandated Archdiocesan Protecting God's Children/Safe Environment Training. Before signing up for lunch duty/recess duty, field trips, etc., volunteers must have this completed. Please use the following link to find the complete information from the church website: mandated training information. Please direct questions to our parish secretary and Child Safety Coordinator, Eileen Garavaglia, at 314-353-6303 Ext. 110 or garavagliae@stgabrielstl.org.

Dear Parents,
.
It is hard to believe how fast this year has gone by. I hope you have a relaxing and joy-filled summer.
Take time to pay attention and be in the present. Here is a favorite poem by Mary Oliver.
Praying
It doesn’t have to be the blue iris,
it could be weeds in a vacant lot,
or a few small stones;
just pay attention,
then patch a few words together
and don’t try to make them elaborate,
this isn’t a contest but
the doorway into thanks,
and a silence in which
another voice may speak.
Please join us for our last all school Mass for the year that will be on Friday, May 24th at 11:15 am. We are planning on celebrating Mass on the parking lot if the weather permits.
Please see the below invitation from the Archdiocesan Office's Immigration Task Force for an upcoming fundraiser.

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
That my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit,
That my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
That I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
To defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
That I always may be holy.
