Pawsome Classes! PBIS - Rocky and Rocky Jr. Winners
Ms. Feldman's Young 5's class was rewarded Rocky Jr. for their P.A.W.S behavior during the month of January!
Ms. Carnaghi's 4th Grade class won Rocky for their wonderful behavior during the month of January!
Jason’s Gold-Saddest Story Ever Told
Mrs. Beavnier’s 6th grade class is making a run on the school’s tissue supply as students read the book Jason’s Gold. Tears have been flowing to the point where our custodian, Ms. Jodi, is standing at the ready with her mop to soak up their salty puddles. Obviously, the book is making an impact as it demonstrates how a story can teach empathy.
Kindergarten 100 Days of School Celebration
This week in Kindergarten, we celebrated the 100th day of school! Students had the chance to dress up as if they were 100 years old, and their creative outfits were a delight to see!
We kicked off the celebration with an exciting Hershey Kiss Hunt, searching for 100 hidden kisses around the classroom. Once all the kisses were found, we moved on to our activity rotations, each one centered around the number 100. From counting and crafting to movement and math, every station brought fun and learning together!
It was an unforgettable day filled with laughter, excitement, and lots of celebrating!
1st Grade 100 Days of School Celebration
The Emerson first graders had the best day celebrating their 100th Day of school! We dressed the part by being 100 years old and the students really enjoyed taking on an elderly age for the day. The students completed Hundreds Day stations in the morning and walked around the school for a Hundreds Day parade in the afternoon. The posters they created were full of creativity and each was a representation of themselves. Cheers to 100 days of learning in first grade!
5th Grade Field Trip - Cranbrook Institute of Science
5th graders went on a field trip to Cranbrook Institute of Science on January 17th. Students explored several exhibits, including the traveling exhibit, The Science of Archimedes, where students got to try out several of Archimedes' inventions from 2,000 years ago! Students also attended the People of the Three Fires Presentation, where students learned about the tribes of Michigan. Students got to make a necklace using beads and a bear claw that represented a medical wheel. Each bead color corresponds to a season and cardinal direction. 5th graders had a blast exploring the museum and learning new things!
Super Bowl Day Fun in 3rd Grade!
On Friday February 7th, our third graders had a blast celebrating Super Bowl Day! The students participated in football-themed activities throughout the day. They practiced reading strategies, created math graphs, and even enjoyed "concessions" like pretzels, popcorn, and juice. Everyone got into the spirit by wearing their favorite team’s colors or gear. To top it off, the class made predictions about who they think will win the big game! It was a fun and educational day filled with teamwork and excitement!

I am certain Serenity will continue working hard and impressing everyone this year in 5th grade!

CANVAS LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM!
All students, grades Young 5s-12 use Canvas, a learning management system. Classroom teachers use Canvas to provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments for students, as well as parent communication.
Parents are encouraged to set up a parent/observer account to stay abreast of student learning. Canvas will allow parents to:
- Contact their child’s teacher
- View grades, due dates, and events
- See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
- Support an absent student
- View classroom and building announcements
