DISTRICT NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2024

Clever Family,
As we near the end of our first quarter, I want to take a moment to celebrate the efforts of our staff and students. Classrooms are full of energy, and we are seeing incredible engagement in both academic and extracurricular activities. It's been a great start to the school year, and we’re proud of the hard work happening across the district.
I’m also excited to update you on the progress of our building project. This past Monday, our architects and myself, Mr. Howard, Director of Operations; School Board President Justin Peebles, and Vice President Sarah Camp met with contractors to review and discuss the construction plans. Several contractors toured our campus to gather information, and we’ll be accepting bids this month. We plan to select a contractor during the November board meeting. We are so excited to see this project take shape, and none of this would be possible without the support of our amazing community. Thank you for your continued trust and commitment to our schools.
October is filled with exciting events and opportunities for our students, and we appreciate your continued involvement and support. Please take a moment to look through the information linked in the newsletter below. You’ll find links to our principals’ newsletters, October board notes, and other information to help keep you informed.
Thank you again for being such a strong and supportive community. Together, we are building a brighter tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Dr. Breeden
Superintendent

BUILDING PROJECT
As we move ahead with our building project, our goal is to keep everyone up to date on the progress. Click the button below to see the dedicated space on our school website that we will be updating as things move along. So far we have the proposed timeline, the floorplans, and some preliminary renderings, but we plan to update that often as we move ahead.
October is bus safety month. We encourage you to talk with your chidren about how they can stay safe getting on and off the bus. Here are some important bus safety tips:
1. Get to the bus in plenty of time to get on your bus.
2. When the bus approaches, stand at least three giant steps (6 feet) away from the edge of the road.
3. Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says that it’s okay before stepping onto the bus.
4. If you have to cross the street in front of the bus, walk on the sidewalk or along the side of the road to a point at least five giant steps (10 feet) ahead of the bus before you cross. Be sure that the bus driver can see you, and you can see the bus driver.
5. Use the handrails to avoids falls. When exiting the bus, be careful that clothing with drawstrings, and book bags with straps don’t get caught in the handrails or doors.
6. Never walk behind the bus.
7. Walk at least three giant steps away from the side of the bus.
8. If you drop something near the bus, tell the bus driver. Never try to pick it up because the driver may not be able to see you.
