JAMES REAVES SR.
James is a graduate of Niagara University where he earned a Full Athletic Basketball Scholarship and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. After Niagara University, he began his professional basketball career in Germany, Finland, Venezuela, Mexico, and the USA Minor Leagues. After retiring from basketball, James attended Roberts Wesleyan College and earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling, and later attended Grand Canyon University where he also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. His career in education started as a School Counselor at the University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men (UPREP) in Rochester, New York as a School Counselor. He was later promoted to Director of Operations. He was hired in the Rochester City School District as an Assistant Principal at RISE Community Elementary School and then moved to Edison Career & Technology High School. Prior to his appointment as Principal at Buckman Heights, he was an Assistant Principal at Longridge Elementary. James has coached high school and national grassroots basketball for the past 12 years. This new role as the Director of Athletics, Physical Education, and Health is a perfect opportunity to merge both of James's passions of Athletics and Educational Leadership. He is looking forward to partnering with school leadership and coaches to support overall school culture and climate, offer engaging and competitive athletic programming, support Physical Education and Health teachers with quality instruction, collaborate with community-based youth sports programs to improve the development of student athletes, and help create an environment where students and families feel a sense of belonging.

Parents, please remember that if your child has any medications in the health office at AHS, these must be picked up by a parent no later than 3pm on the 22 nd of May. Please make arrangements to pick these up on or before this day. If your child has medications to pick up, you will receive a letter in the mail to the address on file in powerschool. Any medication that is not picked up by this date will be disposed of, we do not keep medications in our offices over the summer. We do require that a parent pick up all medications for safety purposes. Also, Immunization letters will start coming out in the next couple of weeks. Please remember to get these vaccines updated over the summer so your student will be in compliance with our state mandated immunizations.
