We will have a fun tournament on our last meeting day.
Feel free to also email Nicole Fiber (nfiber@csdecatur.net), Ashley Forman (aforman@csdecatur.net), Lindsey Combs (lcombs@csdecatur.net), or Noelle Friedrich (nfriedrich@csdecatur.net) if you have any questions.
Important Information about Gifted Review
Each fall semester, the gifted review team looks at existing student data to discuss student needs and whether students may be evaluated for gifted identification. If you are interested in having the team discuss your child’s needs, you may complete a Recommendation for Review Form, found on the Gifted and Talented Services webpage, and return it to the Gifted & Talented Specialist at your child’s school by Wednesday, October 2. No additional information is needed.
The Gifted & Talented Specialists for Talley Street Upper Elementary are Lindsey Combs, Nicole Fiber, and Ashley Forman. For more detailed information about the review process and to obtain a copy of the Recommendation for Review Form, please contact the Gifted & Talented Specialists for Talley Street at lindsey.combs@csdecatur.net, nfiber@csdecatur.net, or aforman@csdecatur.net or visit the Gifted and Talented Services webpage.
Field Day: Call for Volunteers!
Talley Street Upper Elementary Field Day is approaching!
October 11, 2024 - All Grade Levels
We need your help to make field day a success, and the kids love to see you there. There will be a PLAYGROUND/BLACKTOP/GYM segment and a BACK FIELD segment for all grade levels. Students will travel with their homeroom teacher and an assisting teacher, and we just need your help to run the stations.
Schedules and links are posted below. Click on the grade level to be directed to the SignUpGenius. Feel free to email any questions to Coach Jeffferson (tjefferson@csdecatur.net) or Coach Johns (njohns@csdecatur.net).

- Teacher Gift Fund Reminder: The Teacher Gift Fund Collection is in full swing. Please make your contributions by September 28th. Let’s show our teachers how much we appreciate them and contribute here!
- Walk N Roll – Tomorrow, Friday, September 6! The "Walking School Bus" (a group of students, parents, and staff) meets at the corner of Robin St. and Electric Ave by 6:55 a.m. to walk together. All are welcome to join, with or without a parent. We've got plenty of teachers and volunteers to ensure everyone gets to Talley safely. Also the House with the most walkers and rollers (by marble count) earns 10 House points!
- Spirit Night at Bad Daddy’s: Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 18th! Enjoy a night out at Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, where 15% of your purchase will come back to support Talley.
- Caterpillar Season in the Garden: We’re reminding all students to **please not touch** the caterpillars or chrysalises. Instead, students are encouraged to draw them in place on their host plants. It’s a wonderful way to observe these incredible creatures without disturbing their natural process. Also if any parents would like to come see the garden, it is open on Tuesdays from 11-1.
- Sponsorships: We are still looking for a few local businesses to sponsor the school this year by making a donation to the PTO prior to October 1st. If you know of an interested business please have them reach out to Erin Hinek at copresident@talleypto.org. More info here: talleypto.org/sponsorships.
Volunteer Opportunities
New Mission: Help with the Lost and Found: We’re launching a new initiative to manage the school’s Lost and Found, and we need your help! We’ve created a position where you can sign up to oversee the Lost and Found for a week at a time. In the future, we’ll be posting a digital Lost and Found link here in the eblast. Learn more and sign up here.
Trivia Night volunteers: Talley’s trivia night, a fundraiser for the house system, is coming up on September 19th. Sign up to volunteer here and get free entry for yourself:
