NO BLOCK SCHEDULE THIS WEEK!
Students need to bring instruments to school every day this week! Please help us remind your student on what would normally be their non-band block day to bring instrument and band binder to school.
THE BENEFITS OF BAND
A Video Series
Over the course of January, a weekly short video about the amazing impact of music education will be included in each newsletter.
For our first video, we look at a video from the Director of Engineering at Amazon Web Services, who outlines how skills he learned through band helped him become a successful leader in business.
⛄ POTENTIAL WINTER WEATHER ⛄
With the potential for a Winter Storm this Thursday/Friday, we want to give some quick reminders about instrument care. Please protect your investment in your child's musical learning by noting the following:
- All instruments MUST go home each night.
- Please make sure your child brings their instrument into the house every single day. Extreme temperatures can lead to costly repairs!
- Please make sure your child takes the instrument off the bus and takes it to school or home with them.
Many temperature-related repairs can cost several hundred dollars and prevent your child from playing an instrument for many weeks. Some damages can even result in complete loss of the instrument, meaning the entire instrument needs replacement.
BEGINNING BAND ASSIGNMENT - DUE JAN 17
By Friday, January 17th all beginning band members must turn in lines 6, 11, 12, 14, 17, and 18 ion Smart Music as a graded assignment.

SPRING SECTIONAL FORMS DUE IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Spring Sectional Conflict Forms
Were posted to Google Classroom in December. This form must be completed by ALL 7th and 8th grade band members by 4 PM on Tuesday, January 7th. Late forms cannot be accepted - no exceptions.
Students who are trying out for Spring Sports should reach out to their coaches about practice times well in advance and include information for any sports they plan to try out for, even if they are unsure about making a team. It is easier to work around ALL possible conflicts in advance than to change the plan later if a student unexpectedly makes a team.
Due to the size of our program (160+ members in 7/8 bands), we cannot change the schedule once it is posted and will need to work around individual schedules on an as-needed basis if we are unable to work around all game schedules.
Just a friendly reminder that it is impossible to work around practice schedules since most sports practice 4-5 days of the week and we only ask for one day of the week. We can only work around GAME and PERFORMANCE schedules.
NO PHOTO LIST HELPFUL TIPS
Students on the No Photo List in Skyward cannot be included in any of our event photos, regardless of parent intent. This includes the Yearbook!
If your child has been removed from photos but you want your child to be in band photos, please check your child's skyward account and un-check the No Photo button or call the front office at Reynolds for instructions if you need help.

Want to watch our concert again or watch with family and friends? The concert is linked below!

PRIVATE LESSONS
Access at reynoldsband.com/lessons
Private lessons are a vital part of any successful band program and are what make the Reynolds band students really great musicians! Prosper ISD bands are very fortunate to have a staff of incredibly highly qualified teachers that have been vetted by the same intensive processes as all Prosper ISD school teachers. We very highly recommend that any and all band students enroll lessons offered through the Reynolds Band. Additionally, most students who take lessons from Reynolds lesson staff are able to take lessons during band class!
**Reminder: Private lessons are required for Symphonic Winds members as well as french horn, double reed, and percussion students.
Clarinet, saxophone, low brass, and percussion: Due to the high demand of for lessons from our amazing teachers at Reynolds as well as other schools, these sections tend to fill up FAST - we highly recommend signing up sooner than later to ensure a spot in the studio!
For more information about our lesson program, please visit reynoldsband.com/lessons or click the link below to enroll your child in the 2023-2024 Reynolds Band Private Lesson program today!
