Updates & Reminders
OhioES
- This will open on Monday, August 16.
- If your district is transitioning from OTES 1.0 to OTES 2.0 this year, you will need to select this in eTPES (which does not open until Monday, August 16). Then please allow 24 hours for the data and roles to roll over into OhioES.
- A set of directions with screenshots on how to transition from eTPES to OhioES can be found at this link, but it also attached below.
- There are training videos and directions within OhioES that address various roles and the required steps for each.
- Unless your district is still operating with bargaining unit's contrac that had been signed ON or BEFORE November 2, 2018, your must be utilizing OTES 2.0.
- The "Evidence of Student Learning" component cannot be used for this school year. It will be greyed out on the Ohio Evaluation System (OhioES)
- The "Use of High Quality Student Data" component may be used for this school year, but it is a local decision.
- Professional Growth Plan goals do not have to be SMART. The Educator Standards Board (ESB) felt that if we really want teachers to be able to set meaningful PGP goals, some of those goals might not lend themselves well to hard, quantitative data that is generally used with SMART goals. If, for example, a teacher has a goal of improving her classroom climate or improving equity practices in her instruction, this might be hard to demonstrate quantitatively. The evidence would probably be more qualitative in nature. As such, ESB felt the emphasis on SMART goal format would take away the likelihood that teachers might choose certain goals that did not seem to be easily written in SMART goal format.
OPES 2.0
- In order to adopt OPES 2.0, your district must be using OTES 2.0.
- Within OhioES, you wil select if you are choosing to adopt OPES 2.0.
