Parent-Teacher Chat in Limestone County Schools App
Dear Families,
We are always working to improve and simplify communication between you and Limestone County Schools. Keeping up with your child’s coursework and their teachers directly impacts their well-being both in the classroom and at home. School communication plays a big part in all of this, but it’s often not set up to be as simple and easy to access as it could be.
That’s what we’re working to solve. This year, we’re adding a new feature called Rooms to our district app. Rooms enables you to have two-way parent-teacher conversations and keep up with classroom announcements.
Our district app currently offers:
Live feed updates
District and school news
Upcoming events
Breakfast and lunch menus
Push notifications for important and urgent announcements
With Rooms, you’ll have access to even more exciting features like:
Two-way messaging with teachers, staff, and coaches
Classroom announcements, reminders about coursework, and materials
Behavior tracking for celebrating good behavior and academic achievement
Automatic translation
So what does all of this mean for you? This means that you don’t need another app or tool to keep up with your child’s teachers and coursework. You’ll be able to find the vast majority of school and district information in one place: within our Limestone County Schools app. If you don’t already have it, the district app is free and you can search for it in the Google Play and App Store.
Over the next week, you'll receive an invite to Rooms by email or text. Once you receive the invite, you'll follow the link to create a login.
After you’ve created your login, you can access Rooms through the Limestone County Schools app. Once you’re there, you’ll see a toggle at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen—just touch Rooms to get started. If you have multiple children attending our district, you’ll see them both listed in the menu section of Rooms.
We hope this offers you a richer, simpler—and ultimately—easier communication experience.

ATTENTION: 11th Grade Girls
The 2025 Girls State session will take place June 1-6, 2025 on the campus of The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. As one of the local liaisons for Auxiliary Post 49, I want to inform you of the process for local delegate selection.
Alabama Girls State is an amazing learning and scholarship opportunity for the current 11th grade girls of Limestone County. This youth leadership program offers a phenomenal experience to its delegates. The mission of the annual session is to honor those who brought us freedom through our enduring commitment to develop young women as future leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism. The young women who participate in this program will become knowledgeable of the democratic process and how our republic form of government works at the local, state, and national levels.
All potential delegates can obtain an application for Girls State from their school administrator, counselor, American Legion Auxiliary Member, or the local American Legion Auxiliary Post 49. The completed applications must be received no later than February 1, 2025. All delegates will be selected by the members of Post 49. Once an applicant has been selected for this year’s session, a member of Post 49 will contact the delegate, her parent/guardian, as well as the school counselor or administrator. All delegates will be registered for the Alabama Girls State by a Post 49 member.

SENIORS: CLASS OF 2025 INFORMATION
Senior Message from Mrs. Tara Ellis
The career coaches and I have been working with CTC and the central office regarding some solutions for seniors who need their licenses and if they have bank accounts for employment.
We have created a survey for seniors to complete:
Here is a QR code:
ALL SENIORS: Complete FAFSA
FAFSA has opened a little earlier than expected with "beta testing." This means it is officially open, but they will just have some technical issues that they will need to work out along the way. I have attached some notes below for you and your families. This break may be an opportunity for you to get started or submit together!
1. I came into all of the senior classrooms a few weeks ago to assist you with your FSA IDs, but if you missed or had any issues, here are the steps again (with links):
"These are the steps we recommend you take as soon as possible:
Students should create their FSA IDs (How to Create an FSA ID)
Students should determine their Dependency status (Dependency Questions)
If the student is dependent (most students are), the student then needs to determine who else should contribute to their FAFSA (use the Parent Wizard Tool)
The parent indicated by the wizard should also create an FSA ID
Please do not instruct all parents to create an FSA ID— use the Parent Wizard Tool to advise the correct parent to do this task
If the student is independent, the student should proceed to the next step
2. I also had several students have an error message about their SSNs already being in the system. If you were one of these students go here and "live chat" with the helper to get it resolved: https://studentaid.gov/help-center/contact
3. Remember, as you fill out the form that you are completing the "2025 - 2026" version since this is when you will be a freshman and to use your personal email addresses. You will need your SSN and parent/guardian information handy. You should not need your family's tax return information. Your parent/guardian's section should link the information in for them.
4. Here is the official form's link: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
5, Additional resources:
- "2025 - 26 FAFSA Checklist" attached!
- These are amazing tutorials on FAQs: https://www.youtube.com/user/FederalStudentAid
- The whole website can be toggled to Spanish at the top right of the screen. Spanish resources and information here too: https://studentaid.gov/es/resources
- Here is a link too for a helpdesk that usually works better than trying to get in contact with FAFSA staff: https://alabamapossible.org/programs/alabamagoestocollege/students-and-familes/
- I will start having appointment slots for assistance and main event days in January. This will give their system time to work out some of the technical bugs. If you need your form done quickly for offers or performance scholarships, let me know!
Good luck and I'm here if you need me!

Student Reduced Lunch: $0.40
Visitor Lunch: $5.00
TITLE I STATUS: We are a Title I School. Our status as a Title I School is determined by the percentage of students who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Title I Schools are provided federal money based on their rank of the percentage of free/reduced lunches within our school district. This money provides schools with the necessary funds to hire staff to reduce classroom sizes or interventionists who work with students to close achievement gaps. Some schools use the money to purchase software, provide professional development, or provide other instructional materials needed.
Based on last year's free-reduced lunch count, our school will receive about $149,130 which will be used to hire two teachers and two interventionists. Of that amount, $2319 will be used for Parent & Family Engagement. The committee chose to purchase paper that will be used to print i-Ready reports, progress reports, report cards, and other school-related activities to share with parents.
These funds are highly beneficial to our school, so please complete the free/reduced lunch application today at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict. The link is found on our webpage www.westlimestonehigh.org and on the District webpage www.lcsk12.org. Choose "Alabama" and then choose "Limestone County BOE" for our school district to start the application.
