A Message from your Assistant Principal:
Citrus Park Families,
Happy April! As we welcome the spring season, I am excited to share some important updates and upcoming events happening at our school this month. Thank you to all the families that were able to come out and support us at McTeacher's night! We appreciate you all!
3rd Nine Weeks Pep Rally We celebrated our 3rd nine weeks "House" Pep Rally on Wednesday, April 2nd. Our Scholars (Blue House) was our winner with 31,746 house points! Way to go!
Multicultural Night We are excited to announce that our annual Multicultural Night is happening next week! This wonderful event began with the vision of our former student, Ava Brown, and we, as a school have brough it to life. We look forward to seeing you on April 10th! If you are participating by setting up a booth and bringing food samples, you can come as early as 4:15. Doors will open at 5pm.
Earth Day Challenge and Celebration We are thrilled to announce our annual Earth Day challenge. Students have all month to create a work of art from recyclables. Please bring them on April 22nd so we can display and showcase your masterpiece in honor of Earth Day!
Students will also participate in various activities focused on environmental awareness and sustainability. We encourage Staff and students to wear earth friendly T-shirts or wear an outfit that is secondhand on April 22nd! When your style or size changes, think about passing them to a friend!! Wearing secondhand clothing reduces waste and resources, as well as saves you money!!
State Testing for Grades K-2 State testing for our Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students will take place from April 21st to April 29th. Please ensure your child gets plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast each day to help them do their best.
Book Fair Our Spring Book Fair will take place from April 7th to April 11th in the Media Center. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore new books and foster a love for reading.

Everyday Matters!
Every day matters! Regardless of where your student is in their journey, attendance plays a crucial role in their success while they are in school and continues to impact them long after graduation.
Research indicates that missing 10% of the school year, which is 2 days a month, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. Compared to students who are chronically absent, students who attend school regularly have greater success in all grade levels. Elementary school students who regularly attend class are 1.7 times more likely to achieve grade-level scores in English Language Arts and 2 times more likely to achieve grade-level scores in Math. Chronic absenteeism (10% or more of school days) leads to students struggling to read proficiently. Please note that absences for vacations and family visits are considered unexcused absences. Whenever possible, please try to schedule these activities for when school is not in session.
Visit https://www.hillsboroughschools.org/attendance to understand why every school day is important and learn how you can support your child's success. Let's work together to ensure our kids have the best possible start!
