Strive Center for Autism
Financial Aid Opportunity for Families and Students
Have you heard of Bluestone VOICES for Autism? Bluestone VOICES for Autism is a 501(c)(3) created to support the treatment of children with autism. It was the brainchild of some people who have worked in the field for more than a decade and who have watched families and clinics struggle to provide the best possible therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Bluestone VOICES for Autism awards financial aid each quarter to support families of and providers for children on the autism spectrum.
Who can apply?
- Any family who has a child with autism (ages 0-17) currently receiving ABA/Speech/OT services in Michigan
- Individuals pursuing a BCBA degree from an accredited ABA master's degree program for the treatment of children on the autism spectrum.
Amounts awareded vary on the funds available and on the needs of the applicants. Our own BCBA, Emily, has known several families and students who have received the awards. Please check out their website for more info: Bluestone Info
They accept applications during a 5 week window in each quarter, and the next window will be May 1 - June 5, 2024. We will put another reminder in the newsletter in May too!
Keep wearing those tennis shoes!
Just a friendly reminder as it gets warmer – PLEASE send your child in closed-toe shoes to therapy.
Sandals of any type and crocs are not allowed.
We'd love to see your child’s adorable toes, but we need to protect them from our own feet, our rolling stools, and any other hazards, so please send your child wearing socks and closed toe shoes every day.
March is Pet Month!
Pet Month was a huge success! We met cats, dogs, and even a bearded dragon!
When we bring pets in, we introduce the kids to the pets one at a time. We'll have the pet in one room, away from the group, and then we allow each child the chance to come in with their therapist to meet the pet. The kids can get as close as they want to the pet and we tell and show them how to interact with the pet. The same approach can help you introduce your child to a new pet, whether it's your own or a family friend.
Many thanks to the staff members who brought their pets in! It was a great experience for all of us.

Welcome back Evey!
Evey will return from her maternity leave in Brighton next week! We are all excited to welcome her back. If you have a parent meeting that is regularly scheduled with Evey/Amy, one of us will be here for it next week. If you're not sure if you have one, feel free to reach out to Amy or Evey and we'll get you set up! If you've been meeting with Emily, you'll continue meeting with Emily on your regular schedule.
