Band Buzz: September 8th, 2024
Falcon Band and Color Guard
The kids had another great performance last night! Full uniforms will be distributed this week and care instructions have been included in this buzz edition.
In the coming weeks we will be hosting two marching competitions (US Bands on 9/28 and BOA on 10/5). Over 200 volunteers will be needed for each. Competition details and volunteer sign-ups are listed below.
Our next game is on Friday, September 13th at 7pm @ Challenger
From the Directors
CLHS Band and Color Guard Families,
We will continue our normal schedule this week of rehearsals from 3:00-5:00 Monday-Thursday, with our 3rd football game on Friday. Winds and Percussion will be issued their uniform tops and hat wraps after rehearsal on Tuesday and Thursday. Seniors and Juniors on Tuesday and everyone else on Thursday. When we get a little closer to Friday and can better see what the weather is going to do, we will decide on full uniform or heat uniform for the game.
On Wednesday we will have students wear marching hats, gloves, and marching shoes for rehearsal to get used to performing with those items. Color Guard will need their performance shoes on Wednesday.
This Week:
Monday-Thursday 3:00-5:00 Full Band Rehearsals
Wednesday students will need gloves, marching hats, and marching shoes for rehearsal.
Friday Game:
3:00-4:00 Rehearse
4:00-5:00 Load Equipment/Eat Game Meal

Uniform Care
Marching Uniform Care
Now that we will be wearing full uniforms at each game and contest, we want to let everyone know how to properly care for the uniforms so they stay looking great for all the upcoming performances.
Both the bibbers and long-sleeve tops are machine washable - wash with similar colors in cold water with regular detergent (no bleach), tumble dry on low heat, remove promptly after drying and hang back up.
The uniforms should be washed after each performance, or set of performances (i.e., Friday night game followed by Saturday contest). For the weeks we have a back-to-back game and contest, the bibbers and top should be hung up in a well-ventilated area after the game on Friday night to dry out before the contest on Saturday. Also, after each performance, the shako box should be left open a few hours to air out.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
