In continuing to promote our character trait of digital citizenship, we will have a district

Bleacher Report...
7th grade girls basketball report
Blanco:
The 7th B team defeated Blanco B by a score of 10-5. The win bumped their record to 3-2 on the season. Madysen Sheppard led the effort with 6 points. The 7th A team held on to defeat Blanco by a score of 30-25. Aryana Wallace led all scorers with 13 points. Tenacious pressing defense was played by all the Lady Vikings turning the Panthers over time and time again.
Brady Tournament:
The 7th A Lady Vikings took 3rd place in the Brady Tournament this past weekend. The girls were upended in their first game by Mason who jumped out to a big lead in the 1st half. The Girls fought hard, picking up their defense in the 2nd half scoring more points than Mason. Unfortunately the girls ran out of time and were unable to dig themselves out of the hole they found themselves in. The final score was Mason 48 – LV 33.
That loss put them in the 3rd place game vs. the host team Brady. The Lady Vikings jumped in front early converting Brady turnovers into Lago Vista points. Brady would eventually fight back though, tying the game several times. The girls were able to gain some separation in the 2nd half and keep the lead defeating Brady by a final score of 38-30, earning the Lady Vikings a 3rd place finish. The team was really tested from playing against good competition and the girls showed improvement throughout the day. The Lady Vikings currently have a season record of 5-3.
Both the A & B teams have 2 games remaining in their season, next week on the road @ Comfort and the following week, the season finale at home against Florence. If you haven’t had a chance to watch any of our basketball teams play, come on out the kids would love to see you there!
8th grade girls basketball report- January 16, Brady Tournament
The 8th grade girls basketball team traveled to Brady, TX, last Saturday, to participate in the Brady tournament. Our first game was against the Mason Lady Cowgirls. We didn’t play well, but we never gave up. We posted a loss in that game, and were scheduled to play for 3rd place later in the day. Our second game was against the Brady Lady Bulldogs. We put up a great fight in this game.
The opponents were considerably larger than we were, and they used that advantage on offense, early in the game. After a few adjustments in defense, we played competitively for the rest of the game. The Lady Vikings fought back from being 10 points behind in the third quarter to only 2 points behind with three seconds to go. We shot a three-pointer with less than a second to go in the game, but it fell inches short. This secured to victory for the Lady Bulldogs. Despite the loss, the girls were in high spirits and, though they were disappointed in the loss, they were proud of themselves for their successes in the game. The defensive player of the tournament was Itza Cantera, and the offensive player of the tournament was Mallory Webb.
We are proud of all of our teams and would like to thank all of those who survived the two-hour drive to Brady and supported our teams in the stands. Our next game will against Comfort, in Comfort, on January 28, 2016. Another 2 hour trek…. We currently have no game scheduled for January 21, 2016, against Gateway, since they were unable to field a girls’ team this season. GO VIKINGS!
7th grade boys basketball report
On Thursday evening the 7th grade boys basketball team hosted Gateway. The viking boys started slowly out of the gate. Although their was lots of action and intensity, the score at the end of the first quarter was only 2-0 in favor of the host team. In the second quarter the action started picking up. To start the second quarter, the vikings applied their press much more successfully. Rory Maxwell came up with a couple steals and Josh Alexander and Kaleb Alderete started finding the bottom of the net while helping to carry the vikings into the locker room with a 12-3 lead. Every single Lago player saw court time in the first half. Each individual did a great job of carrying out their responsibilities and making a positive contribution.
In the third quarter, the rust from not playing at home since last November just seemed to disappear. The boys scored 18 points in the third quarter alone with a relentless press on defense and excellent execution on offense. In the third quarter, David Rague did a nice job of pushing the ball and finding both Josh and Kaleb again on the break. Lucas Lawless had a fantastic quarter with multiple successful layups in very difficult situations.
Trace Sweet, Alex Holt, Noah Yetley and Blaze Seeley all did a nice job of subbing in throughout the game and putting forth a great amount of positive energy and effort.
Anson Eleutaris, Hunter Phillips, and Bryce Erickson got a chance to have some extended minutes as well in this game. They showed their ability to step in keep the momentum going while gaining some valuable experience along the way.
Overall it was another strong team effort. The 7th grade boys last home game of the season will be next Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Lago Vista Middle School. If you have not had a chance to see them play, please come out and support them.
8th grade boys basketball report
The 8th grade boys B team had a tough loss by 20 points last night against Gateway. It was an all around team effort. Gonzalo Hidalgo pushed the ball up the court. Jack Hood lead the team in defense along with Jack Stewart, Everest Colvin and Ethan Harris worked hard to break their court press. John Wehner and Matt Spiers played a great game in the final minutes. Great job team!
The 8th grade boys A team had a tough loss last night by 9 points. At the end of the 4th quarter we came up a little short. Dillon McKee and Sam Hurley led the team in points. Hunter Sims and Ben Carlton lead the team in rebounds. Mason Hines worked hard on the court press all night along with Tristan Arambula. Andrew Smith and Josh Hernandez worked hard on the defensive side of the ball. Preston Coffey led the team on offense in assists. It was a tough loss for the A team, but they fought hard and we are proud of them. Great job team!
