Prayer of Thanksgiving for the people in my life who seem to bring more pain than joy, for I believe you have let our paths cross for important reasons. Thank you for the good things you want to do in my life through the things that bother me (their irritating habits, their moodiness, their loving ways, their demands' their unrealistic expectations, and their insensitivity). I’m grateful that you are with me, to meet my needs when others-even close to me–fail to do so. I’m so glad that you are also within me, working to make me more like Jesus-more patient, more gentle, more loving-through the very things I dislike. Thank you for your spirit who empowers me, so that I can do them good, delight in you, and commit my way to you, resting in you as you unfold your good purposes in these relationships–in your time.

Our Sr. Pastor, Dr. Ron Godbolt, taught an inspiring lesson entitled, "1 Degree!" He specifically focused on how "1 degree" can make a difference. His scripture reference was: Proverbs 30:24-28.

His lesson objectives were:

1. Recognize what extra effort will do.

2. Understand the wisdom from the creatures.

3. Commit to 1 degree.

Congratulations to Dr. EJ Collins, M.D. for passing his written board exam! He is now a board certified anesthesiologist! We are so proud of you!

We are so happy to congratulate Amelia (Mia) Alston on her recent promotion to Master Sergeant (MSG). Mia has served our country for 14 years, and with this new rank, she will be serving as a Master Religious Affairs Noncommissioned Officer in the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, at Fort Liberty, NC. As you can see from the collage of pictures, her friend and family were so proud of her and wanted to celebrate her accomplishments with her.

About a month ago, Mia eagerly stood up and joined our church family. She was assigned to Deacon Team #4 and was ready to get involved in church activities. Because she has a beautiful voice and loves to sing, she fits right into the choir. We are so happy to have Master Sergeant (Mia) Alston with us at One Church, and appreciate all she does for the body of Christ. HOOHAH!

Family, PBS is doing a documentary on Coronda Tate's mother, Mrs. Celestine Tate Harrington. Take a few moments to read about the awesome courage of a mother and her resilience to fight for the right to take care of her family in spite of her disabilities.

We hope you have enjoyed the Galatians study. On Sept 4th, we will have our review in the sanctuary and on Zoom. On Sept 11th, we will have our time of fellowship. Please see your teacher for details.
