We Need YOUR Help! Return ALL TJS Library Books
A friendly reminder that in order to maintain a robust school library, students are asked to please return checked out library books by Monday, June 17th. All library books need to be reshelved for the summer. Notices were sent home to inform you of the books that your child has not yet returned. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation in this process.
Fifth Grade Clap Out Information...
When: Last Day June 20th / Where: Back of TJS / When: 12:50 PM
It is an annual tradition where we clap out the fifth graders on the last day of school! As a school community all of the other grade levels line the hallways to clap the students out prior to dismissal. Students in grades K-4 are dismissed at the regular early dismissal time of 12:45 PM. Fifth graders are then dismissed from the Jaguar Jungle doors (where students exit to go to the playground) beginning at 12:50 PM. We will announce each child's name and have them run up the hill to the playground. Parents if you choose to attend are asked to line up along the sides of the path up the hill to the playground, please make sure to leave the path clear for the children to run up.
End of Year 5th Grade Events
We are so excited for the many end of year fifth grade events to celebrate the hard work of our fifth grade students. It's hard to believe that the class of 2024 will be leaving us at Torey J. soon.
Seeking Parent/Guardian Feedback on Counseling Programs
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
In an ongoing effort to refine and improve the TJS Counseling Program, I am collecting information in order to better determine and plan programming for next year. Thank you in advance for taking a few minutes out of your busy day to answer the following questions. Your responses will help me better serve your child and the school community.
Sincerely,
Judy Bletcher
2024-2025 School Year... Placement and Student Supply Lists
Parents are encouraged to check the school website often for the most up-to-date information regarding the new school year. In late August, parents will be notified of when they will be able to log in to the Genesis Parent Portal to complete the required back-to-school forms. Completion of the forms in the portal is required in order to obtain your child's teacher placement and class for the 2024-2025 school year.
Please note that all 2024-2025 Student Supply Lists are posted HERE on our school website. The supply lists are specific to each grade level that your child is entering into. If you are aware of any family that may be in need of financial assistance to purchase school supplies, please don’t hesitate to contact the main office.
Lost and Found
Please have your child check the Lost & Found rack prior to the last day of school! We still have plenty of clothes, lunchboxes, and water bottles! On June 17th and 18th, there will be tables outside the main office for you to browse Lost and Found items. All unclaimed items will be donated by the last day of school.
Fifth Grade More Than Madison Presentations
Every year, the fifth-grade students work in teams to complete a More Than Madison research project about a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal. The students researched goals related to No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation, Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land. The project provided students with opportunities to think globally as they researched as a team and created a presentation about a goal topic. A job well done to our fifth graders and the teachers for supporting them through this meaningful project.

2023-24 Jaguars of the Year! Ice Cream Social Event
Congratulations to all of our Jaguars of the Month! I had so much fun recognizing students for their hard work, kindness, great character, and ability to be role models and leaders in our school. Thank you to the PTO for continuing to support this initiative with a special end of year ice cream social for the students.

Calling for Summer Garden Helpers!
Hello Friends of the TJS Garden!
Summer break is right around the corner, and we hope you are looking forward to your favorite family activities!
As you fill in your calendar, we’d like to invite you to pick a week during the summer (maybe with a fellow TJS family or two) to pop over to the Learning Garden to give it some care. The children (with the help of our parent volunteers and teachers!) planted a beautiful vegetable and herb garden- and we’d like to try to keep it up, so that they can come back to see the fruits of their labor next school year!
If you/your family would like to help maintain the garden during one (or more) of the summer weeks, SIGN UP HERE.
Guidance and training will be provided, but should be a straightforward process- mostly involving weeding, making sure the plants are getting enough water, cleaning up, and harvesting anything that is ready to pick!
Thank you for considering this invitation,
Mary Clair & Cynthia, Garden Co-Chairs
