Support Your Child's Growth in Reading
Read with your child to develop Background Knowledge and Vocabulary
Reading at home for 20-30 minutes each day makes a huge difference in your child's growth. It is the most important thing you can do to help your child succeed academically. Reading to or with your child will introduce them to new ideas and vocabulary and model fluent reading for them.

Introducing and Understanding New Vocabulary: To discuss new words, it helps to explain the meaning and then come up with other words that are similar, and then use it in a sentence.

Building Background Knowledge: Reading books about topics in social studies, science, sports, animals, and nature is very important for children as they develop the vocabulary and background knowledge for these common topics. Talking to them about the common themes and language of friendship, overcoming challenges, lessons the characters learn, and adventure will help them understand and connect this to their own reading. Make connections and comparisons to related videos, trips, or conversations about the books you read to further build background knowledge.
Race for Education
Encourage Friends and Family to Donate!
We sent out a record number of mailers this year. Now we need to encourage our friends and family to donate to the race. Donations are starting to come in...Remind your family and friends to donate and help us reach our fundraising goal!
Our Race Goal is $26,000
Help us to beat our goal and make Mr. Smith take a plunge in a dunk tank! If we exceed our goal of $26,000, some of our students will have the opportunity to dunk Mr. Smith during the Fall Parade on Friday, October 25.
