Read Across America Week
Recommended Reading Activity at home
The month of March reminds us about the importance of reading, and weβre inviting families to join in the fun at home! Each week, weβll suggest new ways to make reading an adventure. This month, explore the U.S. through books by reading stories set in different states!
Check out [this fun site] or the Unite for Literacy site discover kidsβ books set in every state and take a literary journey across the country. You can even create your own challengeβwork with the school librarian, let your child pick a book from each state, or track your progress on a reading map.
Letβs celebrate the joy of reading together!
Happy reading!

Snack Break- Grades 1-6
In an effort to reduce milk waste and manage costs more effectively, we are making some changes to our milk distribution at snack time for students in grades 1-6. Moving forward, we ask that families who wish to purchase milk for their children at snack time complete the attached form. This will allow us to distribute milk more accurately and ensure that funds are collected appropriately.
Please take a moment to fill out the form and indicate which of your students you would like to receive milk during snack time It's important to note that students receive a free carton of milk each day during school breakfast and lunch. However, milk is only free at lunch if the student takes the school meal. Otherwise, students in grades K-6 will be charged $0.60 at lunchtime for their milk.
Milk distribution at snack will begin September 9th, 2024. We will add students to the list and milk will be delivered to students during their scheduled snack times.
Cost per milk $0.60:
- Quarter 3- 1/21/25-3/21/25 (42 school days)= $25.20
- Quarter 4- 3/31/25-5/28/25 (40 school days) = $24.00
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to make this process more efficient.
Kind regards,
Angela McQuinn

Partnerships and Real-World Learning- 3rd graders & their Heritage Court Buddies
Our 3rd graders at Houston Elementary recently had their second visit with their buddies at Heritage Court, and it was a wonderful experience! πβ¨
During this visit, students and their buddies created festive leprechauns, enjoyed a book reading together, and spent time connecting as buddy teams. These visits are building meaningful relationships and bringing joy to both our students and the residents.
Weβre grateful for this special partnership and look forward to our next visit! Thank you for your support in making this program such a success. β€οΈ
