PCMS Weekly Update
December 6, 2024
Good Afternoon PCMS Families!
Next week we say goodbye to the first half of the school year! How wild and crazy does that sound already?!? As the semester comes to a close, continue to chat with your Pirate(s) about finishing the semester strong with both their grades and making good choices. Remember that next Friday is a 3-hour Early Release with students going home at 11:50 am. We will not be serving lunch, however, students can sign up for a sack lunch. Winter Break begins on December 23 and students return on January 7!
From all of us at PCMS, Happy Holidays and GO PIRATES!!
Score of the Lost & Found: 134 after Week 16!! ALL 134 of these items will be donated when we leave for break on December 20!!! Please please please have your students check this week for their items!
🎄Check Out What We Did This Week!
The Choir Concert was wonderful! Thank you Mr. Schofer, Ms. Blundell and all the choir students for working so hard to entertain everyone!
Honor Choir went on tour on Thursday. They sang to people at Price Chopper, Twin Oaks Health & Resource, Siegrist, Compass and the District Office. They sounded amazing!
🧡 This Week's Character Dare
The CharacterDare is a heart workout, inviting students and adults to practice kindness, patience, and respect with themselves and others. These school-wide challenges encourage staff and students to put character into action, fostering personal growth and positively impacting school culture.
This Week's CharacterDare is: Forging Forgiveness (see below).
We invite families to join us in these challenges and look forward to the positive impact they will have on everyone.
🤖 Pirates in Action
Robotics: At the home tournament this past weekend, the PCMS Robotics team almost swept the tournament yet again, winning Tournament champions (8778Y), Tournament finalists (8778Z), Skills Champion (8778Y), Judges Award (8778W) and Excellence Award (8778Z). These dedicated teams are incredibly deserving of all wins so far this season.
Wrestling: Our wrestlers overcame adversity against some tough wrestlers from Antioch and Nowlin. PC walked away with 43 wins, 33 pins and 2 tech. falls. PC wrestlers are looking forward to the challenge of their home tournament tomorrow at the high school field house against 13 teams.
Boys Basketball: On Tuesday Both A and B teams beat Kearney, but the C team did not play. On Thursday both A and B teams fell short to Ray-Pec East.
Girls Basketball: On Tuesday against the Kearney Bulldogs, both teams fell at the last seconds of the game in extremely close games. On Thursday, the A Team was able to hold on and come away with the win. Way to go girls!
Archery: Last weekend they had their first home tournament: 8th Annual Anchor Down where they placed first place with a total score of 3163 points. Our top three boys were Cooper Webb-278, Maddon Britz-276, and Carson Fattmann-272. Our top three girls were Victoria Kallo-267, Emeri Snyder-Richardson-267, and Brooklyn Miller-265.
🏫 Future Freshman Session and All High School Expo Night - January 22
PCHS is hosting an Expo for 8-11th grade families in conjunction with their 8th grade student/parent night on January 22.
- Clubs, Activities, and Electives Expo: 5:30-8pm, in the cafeteria
- New Course and Weighted Course Information Session: 6pm, in the auditorium
- 8th Grade Student/Parent Information Session: 6:30pm, in the auditorium
The purpose of the night is to meet teachers and learn about academics and curriculum offerings at the high school as well as attend our electives expo where families can learn more about elective courses, clubs, and activities.
FUTURE FRESHMEN: We encourage both the student (current 8th graders) and parent(s) to attend, so that all can receive the information about courses offered at Platte County High School. This will greatly assist you and your student in the planning process and in course selection for the 2025-26 school year. If you would like more information, please contact your student's counselor: Kim Schank or Whitney Edman, Platte City Middle School Counselors, or Amanda Griffin, Platte Purchase Middle School Counselor.
Message from the PTO
