Tag Day

Our Tag Day to raise awareness regarding sudden cardiac arrest and to raise funds for the American Heart Association in honor of beloved FAW parent, Mr. Matt Farasy was a success. We collected $312! Thank you for your generosity.

Parent/Teacher Conference Sign Ups are Coming

Parent/Teacher Conference Sign Ups will be sent this week. Please be on the lookout for that email. This year conferences will be held from 3- 6pm on the afternoon of November 8th and 1-6pm on November 9th. Please make sure you will be available those days for this very important meeting concerning your child’s progress.

Box of Joy Program

FAW School is proud to partner with the Knights of Columbus and Cross Catholic Outreach in the Box of Joy Program. Pick up an empty Box of Joy at the school and fill it with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, clothing, and accessories for either a boy or a girl. These shoebox sized boxes will be distributed in time for Christmas in South American countries to children in rural areas who have basically nothing. Please include a $9 check payable to "Cross Catholic Outreach" to pay for shipping. It would be helpful if you put that check in a marked envelope and sent it to the school office (instead of putting it inside the shoebox). Boxes are due by November 1st. Thank you for helping a needy child celebrate the birth of our Lord!

The first quarter ends Monday, October 30th. There is no school on Friday, October 27th due to a Professional Development Day for our teachers. Enjoy your extended weekend!

The Lunch Menus for November and December are now active.

*The November menu will close on October 28th

*The December menu will close on November 25th

***On November 1st, we will be doing a trial run of Slim Chickens. Due to the fact that the order needs to be placed beforehand, we will not be able to accommodate any charges on that day for Slim Chickens. Anyone that needs to charge lunch that day will have to settle for SB&J. With this in mind, we encourage everyone who is going to place an order in November to please do so sooner rather than later. (FYI, this also applies to Chick-fil-A day)

October is National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness month. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is when the heart suddenly stops beating, which can lead to death in minutes if the person does not get help in time. When it occurs, the person collapses, doesn’t respond, and may shake as if having a seizure. SCA can happen to people of all ages, even children and teens who appear perfectly healthy. This further emphasizes the importance of annual checkups and sports physicals for students, along with training to prepare for unexpected life threatening events. Knowing CPR is beneficial for everyone, and one can become certified as young as nine. There are many places that offer CPR training including the health department. Even if they are too young to do chest compressions, children can still learn basic first aid skills and what to do in emergencies (such as quickly retrieving an AED when needed).
