Parents D.E.N.
Thank you to the families that were able to join us for our first Parents D.E.N.! We loved getting to know you, gather feedback, share about our day to day process at C.E. Williams South and brainstorm for future sessions. Next week's parent update will include a video recap of this session. Our next Parents D.E.N. is scheduled for October 16th, we hope to see you there!

TENNIS NOTICE TO PARENTS AUGUST 2024
Parents and Guardians,
This is to make you aware of the tennis program available for C. E. Williams students at BOTH CEW South AND CEW North. Last year each school was required to have separate teams. This resulted in CEWN only having 6th grade players and as CEWS did not have a volunteer coach, the 7th and 8th graders had no team.
This year the Charleston Tennis Manager, Ms. Peggy Bohne, and both school principals, Mr. Smith
And Ms. Porter, have agreed to the combining the schools for tennis.
The middle school tennis program is NOT affiliated with Charleston County School District nor is either C.E. Williams Middle School but is organized through the City of Charleston tennis program.
This past year we did not have a tennis team for CEWS but the CEWN team had over 15 players and lost only one match!
There is NO COST to players to register and play on the team. The only cost would be for a racquet, tennis balls and uniforms - typically under $30. If your player needs a racquet to start, I have some spare loaners.
The teams compete in groups of 7 to 8 teams (a Division) from other schools. There were over 150 teams in the program this past year and well over 1,000 players.
The season typically runs from March through early May. Matches are at 4:00 on weekdays and most of our matches would likely be held at the Bees Landing Park Tennis Courts.
Practices start in the Fall and are usually one day a week from 4:00-5:00 or 5:30. Practices will focus on the tennis rules and the basic strokes: forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. Additionally, optional group lessons are available through local facilities such as the St Andrews Tennis Center and Charleston Tennis Center.
If your child is interested in participating, please complete the attached form and return it to me at zxsam300@icloud.com or you can use this signupgenius tool https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.signupgenius.com%2Fgo%2F8050F4DA5AC2FAAFF2-51025190-cewilliams&data=05%7C02%7Csteve.scholz%40libertyba.com%7C2bb8b9621e6443fdabf908dcc856455c%7C08b90bfa5c6845cba9f12b32f2b048ba%7C0%7C0%7C638605520078481491%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=oIrKULjhlevGQPJMSu7fRjImLGTuA7didnrItqEPSNk%3D&reserved=0
One of the limits on the program is the availability of individuals willing to serve as a coach or volunteer. Anyone interested or needing more information, please indicate so on the form.
Thanks,
Coaches
