Quantum Family Connection
Week of January 27, 2025
Hello Quantum Families!
We had such an exciting Friday assembly! We announced our Employees of the Year and kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association!
Congratulations to Ms. Lori our Classified Employee of the Year and Mrs. Murphy our Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Lori highlights our lead with empathy value as she volunteers her time to help in the garden, take care of the chickens, support students in the classroom, coach Boys and Girls club sports, and tackle any project the school needs help with. She would do anything for any member of our Quantum community! Thank you Ms. Lori for your dedication to Quantum!
Mrs. Murphy shows us how to impact the community through the design thinking process with big project based learning opportunities. Projects such as Aquatica, Olympics, and now Mobile Art carts impact the Quantum community and the larger community as well. We appreciate Mrs. Murphy’s time and drive to make the world a better place!
We kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association. We have a school-wide goal of having 100% of staff, students, and at least one family member at home learn lifesaving hands only CPR. Staff were trained last week and students will learn the skill in PE class with Ms. Moretti. Students can show the how-to video to family members at home to help us reach out goal! The fundraising component of the challenge is totally optional.
Here’s the message from the American Heart Association regarding the Kids Heart Challenge:
Let the games begin, Heart Heroes! Kids Heart Challenge has kicked off! Sign up for the Kids Heart Challenge and spend 2 minutes as a family learning what to do in case of a cardiac emergency. Learn Hands-Only CPR, the warning signs of a stroke and so much more! Download the AHA Schools app for iPhone or Android to search for our school or www.heart.org/schools and sign up! Next, send 10 emails or texts to family and friends to make an impact on the community! Earn your own quack attack crew ducks AND tickets for the PE Quark Store for fun prizes! Once you complete Finn’s Mission you’ll receive your own lifesaver cape, a certificate, and be entered to win 2 tickets to Super Bowl LX 2026! Thank you for being a Heart Hero!
Attendance
Attendance continues to be a focus for us this year and we have increased our year-over-year attendance rate every month so far!. We have a school-wide goal of 95% daily attendance rate and we need your help to reach that goal! When students miss school, they miss out and much of what they miss can’t be made up. We have had a tough January with illnesses but are hoping we can get our Quarks healthy and back to learning. If you do visit the doctor for illness, please bring in a doctor’s note to the front office. If there is anything the school can do to support daily on-time attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Great Kindness Challenge!
The Great Kindness Challenge starts this week with a week of spirit days, classroom lessons, and lunch activities! We teach kindness as it ties into our values and our No Place for Hate initiative. Students have a kindness card so they can track their kindness activities. If students turn this card in next week, they’ll receive a ticket for the Student Store! Our Spirit Days are:
Monday -Team up for Kindness - wear sports attire or make your own team w/ your friends (Minecraft, Anime, or an interest you and your friends share)
Tuesday - Crazy for Kindness - crazy socks or crazy hair day
Wednesday - Peace, Love, & Kindness - wear tie dye gear
Thursday - Dream of Kindness - Pajama day
Friday - Embrace Kindness - Impact your community - wear your QA shirt
Progress Reports
Check your mail for iReady scores and discuss a plan with your student for the remainder of the year. We ask students to do iReady lessons from their My Path so they can work on the skills they need to reach grade level proficiency and beyond. Wondering what you can do at home to help your child with their academic growth? There is a direct connection between academic performance on the iReady diagnostic and doing iReady lessons, so please encourage your child to work on their individualized personalized learning pathway in iReady.
