Greetings from Groveport Elementary

Dear Groveport Elementary Families,

TESTING STARTS NEXT WEEK - 1st Round of State Testing is ELA (English Language Arts). All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking the English Language Arts Ohio State Assessments next week. It is very important for your child to do their best on the test. Teachers will be using an effort rubric and students will be able to earn raffle tickets for meeting the effort criteria to win some big prizes (32 inch TV, Stanley Cups, $100 Amazon Gift Card, etc.).

Here are a few things you can do to help them.

1. Keep a positive attitude about tests.

2. Mark test days on your calendar so you can give your child a pep talk that morning!

3. Make sure your child gets enough sleep the night before the test.

4. Make sure your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school and won't feel rushed.

We have learned so much this school year and look forward to our students having the opportunity to show how much they've grown!

April 30th and May 1st = Math Part 1 and 2

4th Grade Testing Dates

April 18th and 19th = ELA Part 1 and 2

May 2nd and 3rd = Math Part 1 and 2

April 16th and 17th = ELA Part 1 and 2

April 24th and 25th = Science Part 1 and 2

April 30th and May 1st = Math Part 1 and 2

We are so proud of our March Students of the Month. Congratulations to the following students: Crosby Marshall, Jaxon Maharath, Caden Guinn, Isaac Shaw, Kian Smith, Derek Brewer, Jacqueline Zacatlan, Remi Eggers, Zarah Mason-Boysaw, Asha Noor, Charlie Craig-Ellis, Tristen Rush, Jordyn Gygi, Naomi Brown, Peytin Ball, Analise Koch, Maria Elderwy, Hunter Hammons, Ed Dumbuya, Ryo Lin, Jade Lewis, Grayson Hartley, Henry Ellinger, and Kyrie Reed! The Focus for March was Trustworthiness. The students enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Robetoy, Mrs. Bray, and the other students of the month. They were very appreciative of the pizza, cupcakes, and Student of the Month shirt. The character trait for April is Positive Leadership!

Check out the letter from Artsonia congratulating our students, our art program, and Mrs. Sperk. Mrs. Sperk and the students, have collectively contributed to an online gallery surpassing 25,000 works of art. Along with all of the art projects posted, we've had over 450 comments from families this school year sharing their pride and support for their students' artwork. That's exciting!

Cruiser STAR Awards are given to students by staff members for students who show characteristics of being a Cruiser STAR - Stay Safe, Take Responsibility, Act Respectfully, Reach Goals. Students come to the office and put their gold STAR in our Treasure Box. Every Friday, Mrs. Bray picks 15 - 20 STARs from the Treasure Box and calls those students to the office for a prize.
