A Message From Your Principal
Dear Eames Way Families,
What an incredible Read Across America Week we’ve had! It was wonderful to see our students' excitement as they explored new books, listened to guest readers, and shared their love of reading with friends. A huge THANK YOU to all of our guest readers and volunteers who made this week so special—you helped bring stories to life and inspire our young readers!
We also want to extend our gratitude to our amazing teachers and families for nurturing a love of books and storytelling every day. Your encouragement makes a lasting impact on our students' literacy journey!
A special shout-out to our PTO and volunteers for creating and assembling the EWS Indoor Recess Carts and to all of the families who contributed items! These carts are already bringing so much joy to our students on rainy and cold days. Thank you for helping to make recess fun, no matter the weather!
Lastly, don’t forget—you can still sign up for the EWS Marshfield 5K Team! It’s a great opportunity to get active and support our school community. Join us for a fun-filled event!
Thank you for all you do to support our students and our school!
Warm regards,
Ms. Bishop
Principal

EWS STUDENT JOURNALISTS!
"An Exciting 'Read Across America' Week!" By Maggie Miller, Grade 5
This week was exciting at EWS: It was Read Across America Week! This means there were a lot of fun activities like spirit days, some of which were silly hat days, dress up as your favorite character day, and pajama day. My personal favorite was dress up as a character day because you got to learn everyone's favorite character and show your love for reading.
If you walked through the halls, you would see the doors decorated as some of our favorite books, such as Peter Pan, Wild Robot, Wizard of Oz, and The Hungry Caterpillar. Normally, the teachers do the doors, but this year, some of the fifth graders got to design a door of their choice.
At lunch every day, we had a special visitor read their favorite book to us. For a book about Wally, Mr. Miller brought his Wally stuffed animal, and when Mrs. Spaulding read the book Dragons Love Tacos, she dressed up as a taco. As you can see, it was a very fun week at EWS.
"This Week’s Enrichment" By Arthur Harwood, Grade 4
This week’s enrichment was a presentation from Sheryl Faye, an actress who presented three different historical women figures to the upper grades of Eames Way School. The third graders learned about Abigail Adams, and the fifth graders learned about Anne Frank.
The fourth graders learned about Laura Ingles Wilder, a writer who lived on the prairie. She told the fourth graders to recognize personification in writing (by identifying “like” or “as”) and she put different books on the screen to show which books the information was coming from. At the end, she asked the fourth graders to identify where the personification was in the quotes she provided using “like” or “as.” For example, “the grass swayed and made a sound as if it were whispering a song to us.”
Overall, I think Sheryl Faye was a really good actress. As a one-woman show, she performed well in a small space and changed her voice to show emotions. She actually cried in the fifth grade performance, which was very realistic and super impressive. She also changed her voice to become the same famous person at different points in their lives (for example, when Laura Ingles Wilder was a little girl, a teenager, and then an older woman.) Her costumes were really cool and it was neat to see different clothes from the time period that her character came from. It was also neat how she could quickly add or take away parts of her costume to go to a different scene. One question I had throughout the performance: I wonder what her hair looks like under the wig!
Overall, I would give her performance four and three-quarter stars out of five!

You're Invited - Join the Eames Way School Team For The Marshfield 5K!
We are excited to invite you to join the Eames Way School team for the Marshfield St. Patrick’s Day 5K on Saturday, March 15th! This fun community event to benefit the Marshfield Education Foundation is also a great opportunity to come together, show our school spirit, and enjoy a morning of exercise and celebration!
After last year’s race, many of our students asked if we could create a team for everyone at EWS to join – so here’s our chance! Whether you walk, jog, or run, we’d love to have as many students, families, and staff as possible representing Eames Way. Wear your green and join us for a great time!
To sign up, CLICK HERE and be sure to select “Eames Way School” as your team.
*Please note that students should attend with a parent or guardian, as Eames Way School staff will not be responsible for supervision during the event. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you there!
