Tooth decay is the number one chronic illness in children – in California’s Central Valley. It is five times more prevalent than asthma and seven times more prevalent than allergies!
Healthy Smiles will be seeing students who submitted an application to be seen for FREE urgent dental care. Applications were sent home with students, but are also available in the EBCA front office.
State Testing (05/14 - 05/30)
Each year, students participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Your child will be taking the following tests depending on their grade level:
- Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts and math, required tests in grades 3-8 and 11.
- California Test (CAST), a required test in grades 5 and 8 and once in high school.
You are an important part of your child’s education. To make sure your child feels prepared to test, you can:
- Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and gets to school on time for each testing day.
- Remind your child that you and their teacher want them to try their best.
- Information from the tests are used to help your child learn.
You will receive your child’s results at the beginning of the next school year through our student/parent online portal.
Testing Schedule:

- Testing will take place from 8:30-11:00.

Classroom Celebrations Policy
Food or Balloons of any kind may not be dropped off at school for class birthday celebrations. The main reasons for this are healthy nutrition and we have several students with a variety of food and latex allergies that we must monitor.
We will limit classroom celebrations to that last 30 minutes of the day for the following days:
- October 31 - Halloween (when it falls during the week Monday-Friday)
- November - Thanksgiving Break (last day before Thanksgiving break)
- December - Winter Break (last day before winter break)
- February 14 - Valentine’s Day (when it falls during the week Monday-Friday)
- June - last day of school
Keep in mind these are the only days allowed but grade levels will have the discretion to not participate if they feel it is a disruption to the learning process.
EBCA Dress Code
Parents, please help ensure our students are abiding by our school's dress code policy. Repeat dress code violations will result in lunch detention.
