Principal's Message
Greetings SHMS community!
It was great to have five full days of classes last week and we are hoping that Tuesday's wintry weather does not disrupt our schedule or momentum moving forward. Congratulations to both SHMS basketball teams who made the playoffs and hosted home games last week. Unfortunately, neither team advanced after a pair tough matchups. We are especially proud of our 8th graders on both teams who have helped to build and sustain competitive programs in both boys and girls basketball.
Last week we inducted more than 50 additional students into the Stuart-Hobson MS chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). We are so proud of this group of students for their commitment to upholding incredible character while achieving academic excellence. We hope that even more students can join during next year's application, recruitment, and selection process. Also, as it was also School Counselor Appreciation Week, I want to thank our fantastic school counselors, Ms. Schimmerling and Ms. Wilson, who are also the NJHS sponsors. Thank you both for your efforts to support students and families, we are lucky to have you in our Panther family!
We re excited to host prospective families for our final in-person open house event before the lottery application deadline for Pre-K 3 - 8th grade at the end of the month. We always appreciate having current families and students in the audience to mingle and answer questions during tours, so please join us if you are interested and available.
Let's have a great week of school before the upcoming four-day weekend for students!

Athletics
2024-2025 Athletics' Participation Packet
The 2024-2025 Athletics’ Participation packet has been released. All students must complete a participation packet every school year. Additionally, the medical forms must be completed within the prior 365 days. We encourage you to have your healthcare provider complete these forms before the school year and attach them to your participation packet. If your student’s UHC has been updated recently, you are encouraged to complete the participation packet as soon as possible.
Universal Health Certificate (UHC).
Students with certain medical conditions may also need to complete an Asthma Action Plan or an Anaphylaxis Action Plan
Please note that it is not necessary to submit a new participation packet for each season. A complete packet includes the DCIAA forms filled out in their entirety along with a Universal Health Certificate that was completed within the last year. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED AND APPROVED BEFORE PARTICIPATION.

Stuart-Hobson Student Attendance
The Cluster is a strong community of families, and the PTA strengthens that community by working together to support our students and campuses. Joining the PTA is a great opportunity to learn more about our school, enrich the student experience, and meet new people. PTA dues help fund critical programs, as well as supplies for music, art, library, and athletics.
