First quarter grades are now viewable in MiStar Parent Connection and Student Connection. Please consider 1st quarter to be a “progress report,” not an end-all grade. The semester grade will be a culmination of quarters 1 & 2, not a 50/50 calculation of the two quarters as it may have been in the past for some classes.

IT'S GETTING COLDER OUTSIDE . . .

Brrrr, it's starting to get cold outside. We strongly encourage all students to dress appropriately for all weather conditions, but particularly during the winter season and come prepared with a coat, hat, and gloves, as well as appropriate footwear.

For reference, the P-CCS Cold Weather School Closure Guidelines are linked so you know the guidelines our district uses to determine whether school is canceled.

LOST AND FOUND - GETTING DONATED ON 11/15

The cold weather has barely hit us, yet our lost and found is bursting at its seams! If your student is missing their sweatshirt, jacket, water bottle, or lunch bag, please have them stop by the lost and found located in the main hallway next to the showcases. We would love to get these items back to their owners! It's also an excellent time to double-check that your child's name is written on their lunch box, jacket, etc. These items will be donated on November 15th. Thank you!

FAMILY YOGA NIGHT ON TUESDAY, 11/12

Please join P-CCS for the next Family Yoga Night on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Pioneer Middle School. Family Yoga brings the whole family together for mindfulness, movement, relaxation, and fun. Practice all the elements of a yoga class -- breathing, yoga poses, rest, and meditation -- in an engaging and active way. The session is led by Ms. Katie from DownPup Yoga, the only yoga studio in the community designed just for kids and families. Ms. Katie is a certified Children's Yoga Instructor. MINDFULNESS SESSION WEDNESDAY, 11/13

Parents and caregivers have a lot going on, and sometimes we can benefit greatly from taking care of ourselves. Join P-CCS for a Mindfulness Session on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Canton High School. Discover simple yet powerful techniques to manage stress and anxiety. Learn gentle breathing exercises to calm your mind and body, and explore basic meditation practices to foster emotional well-being. This session is designed to provide parents with tools to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and resilience. THE GENIUS OF PLAY: INCORPORATING MEANING PLAY FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS

P-CCS parents/guardians are invited to take part in The Genius of Play: Incorporating Meaningful Play for Academic Success, on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Allen Early Learning Center. This “playful” family academy supports the importance of play and its role in future academic success. We will explore the latest research on the benefits of play along with specific changes that can be made at home to support your child’s overall positive growth and development. Participants will have hands-on experiences with various types of materials promoting language development, higher order thinking, and cognitive development. You will walk away with some simple play materials as well as tons of literature.
