MES Soaring to Success
Principal weekly update
Last week was a very busy week for us! Thank you for joining us at our annual open house. I hope you found it helpful in learning about your child's classroom. I also hope you found the community fair valuable. I also want to thank parents/families and friends who came out to cheer our students on during the Imagination Walk! It was such a great time. Thank you PTO for organizing this fabulous event!! Thank you to those room parents who have helped create such imaginative banners!!
Another reminder for parents that are bringing their students to school late is to make sure you are walking them in and signing them in. Thank you!
Several parents have reached out about the afterschool programs being offered at MES. Unfortunately I know that Jazz Band, Talented and Gifted and Annie are all being held on Tuesdays afterschool. We had to schedule according to the availability of the staff running the programs. Choices might need to be made. Should any 5th grader want to do the play and either Talented and Gifted or Jazz band, Mrs. Marietti and I will be willing to give them a small part in the ensemble. We apologize that students will need to make choices.
October is Hispanic Heritage Month as well and we will be celebrating in small ways through out the month. Mrs. Loiseau is focusing her lessons in the library on different Hispanic countries. The morning announcements will feature fun Hispanic heritage facts. Several classrooms will also be studying other aspects of the Hispanic culture.
National Rock Your School Day - We have postposed our participation to Tuesday, October 7th! All students will participate in a morning meeting in the gym where we will celebrate using our imaginations! I am including a video if you would like to see what it is all about! Rock Your School Video
Picture Day is coming up on Thursday, October 3rd. Please hold your forms and money and send in with your child on Picture Day (NOT before). Thanks for your help with this!

A Note from the School Nurse
As a reminder, please keep in mind sensibly size water bottles. The giant ones pose issues when spilled. We have water filling stations.
For gym and recess don't forget no flip flops.
