Rocket News
October 4, 2024
Dear Rocket Families,
What a blast of a week it's been at Peeples! We've been launching into fun with Little Dribblers, art club, chess club, chorus, chimes, and more. Our first graders even capped off the week with a magical journey down the yellow brick road to Emerald City! We hope your weekend is as full of fun and adventure as ours was.

October Counseling Lessons
Lessons K- 5:
As required by the Georgia Department of Education and Senate Bill 401, the Fayette County School System will teach kindergarten through 5th students a lesson on personal safety. At the elementary level, elementary school counselors will deliver these lessons with developmentally appropriate information and school board approved videos. These lessons will begin the second week of October. The learning topics are grouped by the grade levels listed below:
K and 1st Grade – How students can protect themselves from strangers and bullies.
2nd and 3rd Grade – An introduction to the three types of child abuse and ways to stay safe.
4th and 5th Grade – A more detailed look at child abuse and ways to stay safe.
Tech Tidbit
Want to keep your kids safe online? Parental controls are your best friend! With a few simple steps, you can set limits on what your kids see on their phones and streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Xfinity. This helps protect them from content that's not age-appropriate.
Need a little help getting started? We've got you covered! Find easy-to-follow instructions on how to set up parental controls on Apple and Android devices, as well as popular streaming platforms. And if you're still feeling unsure, check out Common Sense Media for even more resources and tips.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found is beginning to fill up! As the cooler mornings set in, we encourage all parents to label their children's coats and sweaters. Please remind your Rocket to check our Lost and Found cart outside the cafeteria if they are missing any items, including water bottles.
Peeples PTO Posts
That’s right! Your child has the opportunity to win a free yearbook by supporting the PTO Direct Drive. Each student in families who donate to the PTO Direct Drive will be entered into a drawing with the winner receiving a free 2024-2025 Peeples yearbook! Thank you to the 156 families who have donated so far! Help us reach our Direct Drive goal by sending in your donation by Friday, October 11, to have your child(ren) entered in the drawing. You can send in a check, cash, or donate online to be registered to win ($40 for 1 student, $75 for 2 students, $100 for 3+ students). Thanks for helping to fuel our Rockets!
