Mr. Eric Koonce, an eighth Science teacher at Myers Middle School, earned his BSEd in Middle Grades Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University, with a concentration in ELA and Science. Mr. Koonce is currently enrolled at Armstrong State University and is working towards his Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He was selected as an Innovative Educator because of his passion, drive, and dedication to utilizing technology integration in his classroom.
Mr. Koonce uses Google Forms to assess student’s understanding. He runs the Add-on Flubaroo, which quickly grades the assessments for him. This enables Mr. Koonce to analyze data and guide his instruction. He has been a teacher leader by sharing this skill with fellow teachers who now use Google Forms to collect data and guide instruction.
Mr. Koonce has helped his students use Ipads to conduct research. Students in Mr. Koonce’s class show a dramatic raised level of engagement and more pride about their work when technology is incorporated.

MyMaps from the cool folks at Google
Use MyMaps to invite students to create their own interactive maps. Using their district Google login, students can add overlays, hotspots, text, and photos, to create amazing interactive maps on any region of the world.

IPad Tip #3 - Opening More than One App
The iPad has finally caught up with its Android and Windows competitors in terms of multitasking. While using one app, you can view a separate app in a sidebar along the edge of the display. Simply swipe in from the right, and a list of compatible apps will appear. Tap the one that you’d like to use, and it will launch in a column alongside the other app you’ve already opened.

Chromebook Logins for Students and Teachers
Students have it EASY!
Chromebook Username: district email address
Chromebook Password: district password.
If students are under the age of 13, students will need to browse as guest OR obtain parent permission to use their Google Suite email address. Your media specialist will provide you with the permission slip, as well as the account info., once the permission slip is signed by the parent.
Teachers have a less obvious login.
Chromebook Username: district email address
Chromebook Password: district username (firslas##, or Firlas##, or FirLas## or firLas##) The Chromebook password for teachers will be some variation of the district username. Uppercase letters may (or may not) be used. You'll just need to try to give it a whirl. If you have problems, contact your IT Coach.
K12 Computer Science Frameworks released!
Every child should have an opportunity to experience the problem solving and excitement related to Computer Science. With the new frameworks, teachers now have grade level concepts to implement in their instruction.
Google Hangouts!
November's Google Hangouts will focus on properly utilizing videos within the classroom. Students should interact with educational videos in a meaningful way that causes them to reflect and think through what they have been exposed to. The two tools that will be shared during the Hangouts are EdPuzzle and Khan Academy.
