Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 28th March 2025
Happy Mother's Day
Nursery and Reception Class Worship
On Thursday, our EYFS children took part in a truly special Mother's Day worship, and we couldn’t be more proud of how they performed! The children did an amazing job presenting the story 'Mum’s the Word', singing their beautiful song, and sharing the heartfelt reasons they love their mummies. They were incredibly brave, standing up in front of an audience to celebrate their mums in such a meaningful way.
It was wonderful to see so many of you in attendance, supporting and cheering on the children as they showcased their talents and love for their families.
Phonics Books for Sale
We will be selling a selection of old phonics scheme books that we no longer use. The books are in good condition and will be available for purchase outside of Reception and Year 1 after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week.
The price is 4 books for £1 – a great opportunity to pick up some extra reading materials for your child!
We look forward to seeing you there.
Purple Up Day!
On Friday 25th April, we will be celebrating Purple Up Day with our service children (the children who have a parent in the military). We will be sharing a special worship with them and we are asking that children show their support for military families in our community by wearing a splash of purple - this could be purple socks, a purple bobble or headband. If you don't have anything purple, please don't buy anything. The children will be giving everyone a purple sticker and if you would like to make a donation to the SSAFA (https://www.ssafa.org.uk/north-yorkshire) we will be collecting cash on the day or you can make a donation via ParentPay.
Reading Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to help support our pupils by listening to them read. If you have some free time and would love to encourage young readers, we invite you to come in and lend a hand. Your support will make a big difference in building children's confidence and improving their reading skills. Whether you can commit to one hour a week or more, your time will be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering or want more details, please contact the school office. All volunteers will have to complete full safeguarding checks and training.
Parent Governor Nominations
Two parents have kindly put themselves forward to be parent governors. We will be holding a ballot after the Easter holidays when voting instructions and papers will be sent home.
