PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 11/15/24

Dear Emerson Middle School families,


The holiday season is officially upon us! It seems like just yesterday we were carving pumpkins and handing out candy, and now we're already decking the halls with boughs of holly. As the days grow shorter and the nights grow colder, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. But amidst the shopping, baking, and decorating, let's remember to slow down and savor the moments with loved ones.


With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it's the perfect time to gather with family and friends, share a delicious meal, and express gratitude for all our blessings. And speaking of food, let's not forget about the ultimate comfort food: chili! As the Detroit Lions take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday, there's no better way to spend a chilly fall afternoon than curled up on the couch with a bowl of hearty chili and cheering on your favorite team.


So, let's make each day one to remember. Take a break from the chaos, enjoy the company of loved ones, and indulge in some delicious food and football.

Congratulations to Ms. G and Ms. King !!!

LPS EDUCATION FOUNDATION GRANT WINNERS

We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Graziano and Ms. Laura King have been selected as the winners of this year's LPS Education Foundation grant competition!


Ms. G's grant will be used to continue funding the PBIS Reward app for the 2025-2026 school year. This valuable tool has been instrumental in promoting positive behavior and creating a positive school climate.

Ms. King's grant will be used to support the in-class library for our ELA students. This will provide our students with greater access to a variety of books and resources, enhancing their reading experience and fostering a love of literature.

We are incredibly proud of both Ms. G and Ms. King for their dedication to improving our school community. Their hard work and innovative ideas will undoubtedly make Emerson a great place for everyone.

Reporting Absences

There are two ways you can report an absence for your student at Emerson.


Option 1:

  • Go to the Emerson Middle School website.
  • Click on "Report an Absence" under Quicklinks.
  • Fill out the Google Form (also at the top of this newsletter).


Option 2:

  • Call the attendance line at 734-744-2666.
  • Please leave a detailed message about your student's absence.
  • Include their name, reason for absence and any specifics we may need to know.

  • This has been updated for the 2024-20254 school year.
    • It can be accessed HERE.


    A few key things to note:


    • Please partner with us by reminding students that cell phones and electronics should be "AWAY FOR THE DAY"!
    • All students must keep bags and backpacks in their lockers.
    • We do not allow Hats and/or Hoodies to be worn during the school day.


The Livonia Parent Advisory Committee (LPAC) seeks parent representation from each Livonia Special Education Program. Parent representative volunteers have a child/children with a disability(ies). The LPAC also provides advisory input on matters regarding improvement of Special Education services within our school district.

If you have a program that you'd like to advertise, please email your flyer to Stacy Jenkins at sjenkins3@livoniapublicschools.org for approval. We follow a set of guidelines for approval and are only able to accept flyers for non-profit organizations that benefit our local children.

Emerson Clubs

Emerson Middle School has several clubs where students can connect with their peers, learn a new skill, or simply hang out with friends. We've had a volleyball club, robotics club, GSA club, and homework club. We would love to offer something for everyone! Our club list is always growing, and we're always open to new ideas. If your student has a dream club in mind or if you'd like to be an awesome advisor, let us know! Joining a club is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, and have a blast!
